Brown is not a cap dump that decreases value. He has value. They could trade him elsewhere for a third or so

Ahh yes... The old Hall for Larsson trade 2.0 will fix the Leafs. Definitely the best move they could make...

Pesce is better than Larsson and Hall is better than Nylander so this is more of the case of TOR fans thinking Nylander is some elite level player. He is a great young winger (possibly center) with some upside making 7 mil. Pesce is a solid young RHD with some upside making 4 mil.
Value wise it is much closer than you think.
Johanson for Jones is more comparable. But those were two elite players being swapped. Nylander for Pesce is potentially elite level swaps.

First off, Pesce is not so much better then larsson, i'd say he is, but not to some wild degree. Pesce is no where near the level of Jones.
Hall was not a hart winner at the time of the trade.

Just one more thing:
Nylander has outperformed Marner in all aspects but the PP and luck this year. You are so absurdly wrong in your analysis its funny.

Think this is one of the more reasonable lineups posted for 2019/20 Leafs. Even if Leafs were to give up a second to Carolina, think the deal could be Carolina somehow.

Excellent retort btw. Ignore the argument once you've been proven wrong.

Yeah they're not even close IMO. Biggest difference is something that can't be quantified with a stat, and thats heart. Marner gives it 110% every shift of every game. Nylander is lazy half the time he's on the ice. Could he be as good as Marner? I think so. Marner just outworks him badly.

I think Nylander > Pesce but if it's done to move out $$ and improve defence I can buy into it.

Then it would certainly be enough. But it would unfortunately be a stupid trade for the Leafs as they can't afford doughtys large but fair salary.

Pesce is about the number 4 d on his team. On the Leafs he would be 2-3. He is worth similar to what the Leafs paid for muzzin (as good defensively, worse offensively, but signed for longer. Also muzzin has cup pedigree). So a 1st and two good B+ but not a prospects. I wouldn't trade Nylander for that return. I'm not trying to diminish Peace's value. I simply don't think it's enough for Nylander.

Ahh yes the "interesting facts, but how about my feelings" argument. Before this season it was a toss up, and the numbers from this year suggest Nylander has been performing better.

Fair points I just think Pesce is much better than Muzzin value wise, Muzzin isnt getting better Pesce will.

on a smaller sample size bud and its not feelings. I watch hockey and watch each player play and can see with my eyes that Marner dominates games, Nylander does not. If Nylander plays all 82 games this season he has like 55 points tops. 23 points in 46 games... Marner has 86 points in 66 games.. come on man.

You are including the time when Nylander was getting back into shape. If he starts the season on time he is one step back of mitch (who has been propped up by JT). Since playing in the top 6, he is ppg and has been fantastic. There was a month period where even the eye test said Nylander was the best Leaf. Marner is very good, as is Nylander. The difference is not night and day, and simply looking at raw statistics ignores 90% of the context and reality of the situation.

But apparently you aren't making opinions based on your emotions...
