Leon Draisaitl is on pace to score 50 goals, as he currently has 47 in 77 games.
Since the Edmonton Oilers entered the NHL, they have had just 4 players score 50 or more goals:
Gretzky: 8 times (92, 87, 73, 71, 62, 55, 52, 51)
Kurri: 4 times (71, 68, 54, 52)
Anderson: 2 times (54, 54)
Messier: once (50)
So even during the high scoring years through the 80's when the Oilers had some of the best teams ever and the best player ever to play the game, getting 50 goals wasn't commonplace. HHOFer's like Anderson and Messier just barely did it. Adjusting the numbers above for era makes Draisaitl's numbers even more impressive.
In the past 10 years, only 5 players have scored 50 or more:
Ovechkin: 4 times (53, 51, 50, 50)
Stamkos: 2 times (60, 51)
Crosby: once (51)
Malkin: once (50)
Perry: once (50)
No player has scored 50 since Ovi did it in 15-16. Incedentally, these players are the only ones in the past 10 years to have scored more than Draisaitl's current 47 goals. This is clearly elite company.
