He most probably is that this season but generally he isnt. He is already fantastic player but playing with McDavid certainly does wonders with him.

I'm just curious to know what other fans think of Him and whether they view him as a top 10 player or not

And McDavid scores at a much higher rate when with Draisaitl. It's called chemistry.

He's the real deal.

Leon Draisaitl is on pace to score 50 goals, as he currently has 47 in 77 games.

Since the Edmonton Oilers entered the NHL, they have had just 4 players score 50 or more goals:

Gretzky: 8 times (92, 87, 73, 71, 62, 55, 52, 51)
Kurri: 4 times (71, 68, 54, 52)
Anderson: 2 times (54, 54)
Messier: once (50)

So even during the high scoring years through the 80's when the Oilers had some of the best teams ever and the best player ever to play the game, getting 50 goals wasn't commonplace. HHOFer's like Anderson and Messier just barely did it. Adjusting the numbers above for era makes Draisaitl's numbers even more impressive.

In the past 10 years, only 5 players have scored 50 or more:

Ovechkin: 4 times (53, 51, 50, 50)
Stamkos: 2 times (60, 51)
Crosby: once (51)
Malkin: once (50)
Perry: once (50)

No player has scored 50 since Ovi did it in 15-16. Incedentally, these players are the only ones in the past 10 years to have scored more than Draisaitl's current 47 goals. This is clearly elite company.

I'd say Draisaitl is maybe a top 10 player. If not, he's just outside the top 10. It's close. I want to say he is a top 10 player, but I don't know if he'd make it onto the list if i had to actually pick 10.

You might be right but Perry doesn't compare to the others as a player. But i get what you're saying.

Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, McDavid, Price, Kucherov, Vasilevsky, Fleury, Marchand, Bergeron, Karlsson, Burns on and on and on the list goes of players who are better than Drai. He is a top 50 player, not top 10

Some of those guys WERE better than him but no longer are. I mean Price? Seriously? He's 16th in SV% this year for all starters, last I checked that was mid-pack for a 31-team league.

Over the past 3 years Fleury is 17th in SV%, Price 24th. Neither is a top-10 player in the NHL today - or even a top-50.

Yup. Getzlaf, Perry, Selanne and Ryan all had a good season in 2010-11. Perry used to be able to score goals though - he's had 6 seasons with 32+ goals, and one with 29 in 70 games.

Draisaitl is on pace to score 108 points this year. Lets look at all the players that have done better in the past 10 years:

H. Sedin, 2009-10: 112 points
Crosby, 2009-10: 109
Ovechkin, 2009-10: 109
Malkin, 2011-12: 109

And that's it. Of course, Kucherov and McDavid have already surpassed these numbers this season with games left (121 / 114) and Kane will likely get above 108 as well.

If Draisaitl continues on his recent pace (23 points in 13 games in March) he'll end up with 110 points, ahead of the best seasons from Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin etc in the past 10 years. If that isn't elite I don't know what is.

without McDavid he is average at best, he cannot lead his own line and must be put with McDavid to be successful.

There are still 10 other players on that very short list that I made in 30 seconds. Point is Drai isnt a top 10 player and probably never will be

All the credit goes to Mcdavid and none of it goes to Drai. When Drai scores its all thanks to Mcdavid, but when Mcdavid scores no credit to Drai. He is underrated, if the oilers could build a competent team around them I'm sure youd find that he can be just as productive without Mcdavid. I wouldnt say top 10 player but late teens for sure, hes a pretty complete player.
