    Gave up way too much.

Lost: star RW, top 4 D, middle six RW, low end potential starting goalie, best prospect on the team, a third.

Gained: third line RW, 4th line LW, #6 Dman and a first.

Leafs actually add cap. Deleting 6.5m is cap is imperative in any Leaf deal(s.) Besides LHD Maatta isn't needed.

Maatta is one of the most overated players in the league IMO. I think he is god awful terrible. Would never want to see him in a Leafs jersey. Ever.

This is a steal of a deal for the Leafs. Maatta could easily be flipped after getting him, even if it's just for a pick. Then it's essentially Toronto got Hamilton and Simon for Kapanen, Zaitsev, and Engvall... Dubas would take that deal in less than a heartbeat. But it would never be offered to Toronto

How is Maatta overrated? He is the pens fans whipping boy so then every other fan thinks he sucks rather than actually watching the guy play. Pens fans say he is the cause of every goal against but is a career +55 or something like that. He isn’t bad. Sure he isn’t the fastest skater but he has high IQ and is positionally sound. He typically gets left out to dry by his D partner too.

Watching that guy play in the playoffs over the pens two cup runs and last year here's what I see: a turn over machine who constantly makes stupid decisions with the puck. A weak player who damn near seems scared when things get physical, can't win puck battles in the corner. Terrible as a 1 on 1 defender. With extremely limited offensive upside.

Glad you like him, you can gladly keep him. The Leafs should want absolutely no part of him.

Just about every penguin player is a turnover machine lol. During the two cup runs though, Daley was constantly leaving Maatta out to dry. He is the only D outside of Dumo that doesn’t pinch like every time he enters the zone. It’s the forwards trying the pretty passes that lead to 2 on 1’s. And he is a solid 1 on 1 defender imo. His plus/minus kinda shows that, considering he is a +59 while constantly being left out to dry.
