McAvoy has already turned down Ekblad money. You going to be paying him north of 8 on a long term deal.

Noel Acciari is not worth $1.5 million. He might be worth a $1 million max.

That is incorrect, he turned down a contract offer last off-season because he's looking for Ekblad money.

Per Shinzawa, McAvoy's decision not to take Boston's deal was related to defenseman Aaron Ekblad signing a lucrative eight-year extension with the Florida Panthers in 2016 worth $7.5 million annually, making him one of the league's highest-paid defensemen.

Anaheim just accepts that Backes contract for nothing? Why?

Yes, I know why you want to get rid of him... why would Anaheim accept it? You need to pay someone to take Backes off your hands.

in my opinion, that may be what they say, but the McAvoy camp likely doesn't want a long term deal. Rather than the Ekblad model, I'm guessing they want the Subban model. Two year short money bridge, and then a record breaking contract with arbitration as a threat.

Why would any team in the league take on your biggest cap problem for free? They're just in the mood to do them a favor or something?

Your right, I missed the part where your proposal just says "trade someone for our biggest problem". Very insightful.
