If Marner doesnt take the Bridge Deal

Created by: Ramsay
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 21, 2019
Published: May 21, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Marner takes the bridge they can possibly afford one of Johnsson or Kappanen. That is assuming one of them is willing to take a bridge deal as well. Otherwise get the best ya can for them and Brown.

Liljegren starts the year with the Leafs until Dermott is back in the line up alongside Rilley. Maybe he is ready for bottom pair minutes, who knows. Sandin will get a shot to see if he is ready also.

Yeah, I don't see Marner taking a bridge deal, but I'm wondering if there'll be more players in the future taking shorter term contracts at a younger age so that they can maximize their salary when they hit their prime. For example, Marner taking a $9M x 4Y deal, and then cashing the eff in after that, since contract values are rising exponentially.

Maarner at 9x4 is bad deal for Leafs. They might but we are possibly 4-5yrs away from that thing to start becoming good. It started with Matthews and slowly develop. Like 8yr deals.

You got the money about right and money needed to be traded...for prospects or picks. But I gag at the thought of Liljegren and Holl starting the season in the top six.

I know that you're just making the point that Brown, Johnsson and Kapanen have to be shipped somewhere, but just for the record, Anaheim and Toronto have the same on-ice problem: horrible defensive right sides. So they are not good trade partners.

Why not? Maybe he thinks he can put up 130 points and win the art ross next year. I don't think a bridge is a negative for Mitch.

Well let's all cross our fingers that Dermott is a quick healer.

You are right. I chose Anaheim because they were first on the list. Have to think Edmonton would be really interested.
