Description
Assess these ideas on their own merit, not as a whole.
These ideas are based on leveraging bad contracts to build for the future as well as other necessary trades based on strengths and weaknesses of the Wild organization. I would prefer to start by trading the owner and GM, but...

MIN
  1. Phaneuf, Dion
  2. 2019 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Not 100% sure on value here, but rumors are the Kings are considering buying out Phaneuf...so this would give them another option.
LAK
  1. 2019 2nd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
I need opinions of value here.
2.
MIN
  1. Backes, David
  2. 2019 1st round pick (BOS)
BOS
  1. Brown, J.T.
  2. 2019 4th round pick (NYR)
3.
MIN
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi [RFA Rights]
  2. Zaitsev, Nikita
Additional Details:
There has been a lot of debate about a Kapanen for Greenway trade - maybe taking Zaitsev's contract will sweeten it a bit for Leafs fans?
TOR
  1. Greenway, Jordan
  2. 2019 5th round pick (WSH)
4.
MIN
  1. Juulsen, Noah
  2. 2019 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
I've proposed this trade before and I think it makes sense for both teams...as long as Juulsen can/will make a full recovery.
MTL
  1. Brodin, Jonas
  2. 2019 6th round pick (MIN)
5.
MIN
  1. Bennett, Sam [RFA Rights]

6.
MIN
  1. Callahan, Ryan
  2. Foote, Cal
  3. Stephens, Mitchell
  4. 2019 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
FYI - Belpidio is a legit NHL RHD prospect who will most likely develop into a 3rd pairing D with potential to be a 2nd pairing D. He's a very good skater, plays with some edge, and is a natural leader.

While you mentioned Zaitsev, my offer from TML, Kadri included on basis of some previous threads from your fan base, where you are shiping him away after :

I like the Brodin Trade but mtl might be paying too much.

I dont watch brodin much so I dont know much about his play but stats wise he is alright.

Habs fan here. I really like this trade. I would even be willing to give a little more for Brodin as he is exactly what Montreal is looking for. I'd do Juulsen, 2nd and 3rd for Brodin.

Well I like the concept of tearing it down and starting over but let's try to stay in reality a little here too. Minny by all accounts, trying to acquire Kessel and such, isn't blowing it up any time soon. In fact, they are trying to be a good team next year and these trades all make them significantly worse for the foreseeable future. They should have a powerhouse of prospects after that obviously but that is probably going to be down the line.

I know exactly how you probably feel about the team. Kind of like stuck between a rock and a hard place. Not good enough to win a cup, not capable of properly rebuilding. I felt like that for Montreal last year but I'll tell you this, the NHL has done an amazing job of making it easy for teams to change year to year. All it takes is one move and a little luck or lack thereof and this team could either go the Cup final or win the draft lottery. It doesn't need a complete tear down. Doesn't need a generational talent.

St Louis was the worst team in the league Jan 1st and now are playing for the Cup. Can you imagine if Binnington got injured in his 2nd game for Blues this year and Allen was still the #1 goalie? That is the difference between Stanley cup potential and getting to draft Hughes/Kakko now. I think that is why GM's are so hesitant to blow things up like you did above.

The Habs trade makes a lot of sense.

I'd rather the 2nd be conditional but I would probably take the deal as is regardless.

Please read my “Team Explanation”

I did read the explanation. Im saying without a sliver of hope of it happening, what good is this? You know theyre not going to do it. Anybody could trade their assets for picks and prospects and kind of start over but that isnt a realistic approach for most teams.

I guess what i was tryng to get at is try to make the most of it and do what you would do if given the same circumstances mangament seems to have. By all accounts ownership could very well be telling Fenton hes not allowed to blow it up. If thats the case, these may not be options in any universe.

So i guess yeah if you could do all these, youd be definitly on your way to serious full tilt rebuild. I just dont see the point. It would be like a Detroit fan trading zadina, Hronek and Rasmussen for immediate help to try and contend. I mean sure, you could do that but i dont see how there would be any shroud of believability to it.
