I would stay as far away from Kyle Turris as possible. That contract is awful.

The report was that he's not willing to sign as of now, not that he wants out so let's slow our roll here. It's also from Pagnotta who isn't a very reliable source.

If he truly does want out, then I think it's pretty crazy. He has a great center with Hischier already and likely Hughes in the future. Things are looking up for New Jersey, but I can't entirely blame him if he does want out. Nashville would be a great fit for him IMO.

We aren't taking a cap dump and a top-4 defenceman for Hall. Maybe a bit less for Tuch, and we aren't signing Panarin for 12 mil

Guys this is just a random team, I would never trade hall for those two. It was more to spark a conv on IF Hall leaves.

Year out of ufa status, I could pretty much guarantee he goes to that status, unless he has another less than stellar season, then it’s another one year deal, he’s got dreams of 9/11 x 8 on a bidding war

I completely agree. NJ also has the 2nd most cap space and could easily score a top FA like Panarin or Duchne. I think NJ has to be aggressive this offseason to make sure Hall doesnt walk.

I think if he does walk, a team like Nashville, would be a great fit too, but other teams like Vancouver, Carolina or any other up in coming team would be great too

I think every team even if he had a bad year would throw 10 plus million at him. Hes just that skilled

How can you pretty much guarantee something like that? Do you know his agent or Hall himself? Maybe he's just waiting to see what moves New Jersey makes this offseason. If they land a high profile free agent then that could be enough for him. None of us have any idea what he's thinking. How do you know he has dreams like that?

Also, teams can't sign UFA's that weren't on their roster the year prior to 8 year deals, only 7 year deals.

So that gets him picking his spot, prime opportunity for rangers to steal him or a la team depending on cap room. I see him looking for his own fame and fortune over any team success. Which excludes small cities, and non major us cities. I wonder if Chicago takes a run at him and try to put a run back together

Great points, I agree with you completely. A high profile free agent would be a huge step towards New Jersey becoming a contender. Panarin would probably be ideal, but a Lee, Duchene, or Karlsson would be a nice consolation prize. I think Hall is just waiting to see what Shero does this offseason, but that's pure speculation.

Sorry left imo out of the discussion, I’ve followed him since junior, great player, but a ego to go with, don’t believe New Jersey was ever on his radar, Toronto first no dough for him, then the list is ny la chi, try to be a big deal in a big city.

I think Zacha is a wild car on this team, He really needs to have a break out year before I would judge his value

At this point I think its 50/50 on if Hall resigns or not; getting Hughes helps, but at the same time just how awful the Devils were without him last year doesn't help at all. Unless Shero brings in 1-2 big name players before training camp I don't think Hall would resign before the season.

As a Devils fan I am leaning towards trading him before the season, because he will be 28 by the end of next season and with an 7-8 year deal would take him to 35-36 years old and he is coming off knee surgery this year. I think it is too much risk for the Devils to be include him in their rebuild when the other players they build around (Hischier, Hughes, Smith, Bratt, Severson, Wood, Zacha, and Blackwood) are all under 24 years old.

I could be totally wrong and he could comeback just as good making the Devils and me look like idiots but I rather lower the risk and get more younger players to surround those mentioned above.

Neutral party here, but I'd stay away from Subban and Turris. Both decent players, but both on the decline. Subban is 30 and slowing down quite a bit already, and both contracts are long term.

Yeah he does have an ego problem, alot of my friends played with him in Junior and they always mentioned his ego being a big factor.

The issue I have is NJ isnt a small market, there right in the middle. Hell with a big UFA like Panarin and some better defensive play, they could be a contender next year.
That being said, I think Hall is waiting to see what gets done this off season

But what do you trade him for? if its before the season starts like Ottawa did with Karlsson, the value is higher, but during the season the value isnt as hi because teams think they could get him for free in FA

If I’m jersey, I try to pull the 3rd pick out of Chicago or the 4th pick out of Colorado in a deal for hall, and have a couple key pieces for build, and exempt for expansion. Obviously a package deal and try to pull some more youth or two year cap dumps from either teams.

Fair enough, I think Chicago is a bit of a stretch as their in rebuild mode too, but I think Colorado would be interesting. If i was the Aves, and Hall would sign an extension right when we traded for him I would do it. Still leaves lots of cap left for a key FA too.

I’m not overly sure Chicago is convinced there in a rebuild, like the rest of the league feels. But ya either place he could be dynamite in there top 6, and nj could withstand a bad contract or two to offset getting some youth and high pick for build

Chicago doesnt think they are lol. Theyre offense is still firing on all cylinders but the Defense is suspect and if Carwford cant stay healthy theyre in trouble. And if I was NJ, I would trade Hall for a high pick, a prospect and Top9 guy and get the team to throw a bad contract in to balance it out.

That’s how I would attack it, if I’m nj, hishier, Hughes, butcher, and keep building, a byram, cozens, or whoever is there at 3 or 4 would be huge, and also be in a interesting place at expansion time with protection spots galore and salarycap to match

yep completely agree. Do you think if you were NJ,. would would go after a Stud D in Byram or would you add more offense with Cozens or Dach?

I personally would go with Byram as you dont have alot of solid D yet. Only a handful.

I would stay away from dach at 3 or 4, I think he maybe a step slow for top line Center, I don’t think you can go wrong with byram or cozens
