Its amazing how undervalued Kadri is on this site (even being in the same conversation as Brassard lol)
But ofc because I have a Kadri pick I must have no clue...

He is a 2C on nearly any other team, he would get what a decent 2C on a steal of a contract would return.

If I was Chevy I'd offer something like the Tatar trade, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Kadri would be a great 2C for the Jets.

I think he's the opposite of undervalued on this site. He's actually overvalued in nearly every Toronto ACGM I see. And that doesn't change on this one.

I'm a Kings fan, so I'll use a trade for a LEGIT 2C as a comparable. Granted, it was 7 years ago, but I think my point will be able to be seen.

In 2012, the Kings traded for Jeff Carter for a 1st pick in 2012 OR 2013 and Jack Johnson (who, at the time, was an up-and-coming A- defensive prospect who was NHL-ready). He's got a contract at 5.27mil per year, so about 3/4s of a mill more than Kadri now, in an era where the cap wasn't as high. So by that perspective, Kadri's contract is nice, so that's a point in Toronto's favor.

Let's look at the stats. Carter was 27 (1 year younger than Kadri is now) and already had 3 30+ goal years, one in which he scored 36 and one in which he scored 46. He'd broken 60 points in the 3 previous years straight with an 84 point year when scored the 46. Kadri on the other hand has broken 60 points once. Carter massively gets the edge here, and it's not even close. Carter was DEFINITELY a 2C on any team in the NHL. Kadri might be a 2C on some teams, but hopefully not the top 10, if they want to be contenders.

Now let's look at intangibles. Carter grew into an assistant captain, and hasn't been suspended or fined that I can see. Kadri on the other hand, is well-known for his antics. 5 suspensions, 3 fines. 2 suspensions in absolutely critical moments which people can say cost the team at least 1 playoff series. Carter again gets a HUGE advantage here.

So, my guess the value will be maybe a B+/A- prospect with a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Not to mention everyone and their mother's are aware of Toronto's cap situation, so they aren't going to get any steals. They certainly aren't getting a 1st round pick for him, in the era where 1st rounders are more valuable than just about anything.

Not a leafs guy but 100% agree. Regardless of some "antics", he's both talented and tough and that lineup needs more toughness. I think losing him does way more harm than good.
