Even if I was willing to take on the Lucic contract (for the record, I would avoid that thing like the plague, at all costs), it's going to take a lot more compensation than that to do so.

Edmonton would have to add if they want Kreider. I know the pick is 8OA but they're getting a solid goal scorer and those two pics don't make up for Lucic's horrible contract. You could get more value for Krieder in a separate trade.

I hate the Lucic trade. I also think the Winnipeg Trade is a mistake to get the RFA rights of Trouba. I'm fine with a second, but giving them back that pick sounds like a mistake when he doesn't have to sign with us. I can't see Shattenkirk waiving his NTC either. He took a discount to play for the Rangers. He would probably want to stay.

If you retain half on Lucic I think it would be close to fair. I hope we don't trade assets for Trouba and instead, try to grab him as a UFA, especially since we are not going to be competing for the cup for the next year or 2. Maybe you could use that cap space to take on Callahan this year for a 1st from Tampa.
