This is a Canes trade I can get behind. Canes could even retain a little salary on TVR and move the pick up to 2nd to make the trade more fair.

As a Leafs fan, the idea of trading Kapanen for a 3rd pairing RD does not thrill me. I have to imagine first of all that Toronto wants to keep him, but if that's the best offer on the deal for a D-man I would hope they decline.

But I don't like the Letang trade either, I don't really see the value for either side.

TVR can play 2nd pairing defense, he was playing 3rd pairing for Canes due to depth. He also was one of the best defenseman on the ice in the Caps and Islanders series this year.

I’d feel pretty good with a Muzzin / TVR second defensive focused pairing, especially if there is a coinciding deal for a 1st pairing guy to go with MR.

MIN fan base is in hunt for Kapanen also, so i would rather fish Spurgeon with him.

TVR has higher value on this site than in actual life because he is a RHD. Don't kid yourself, no smart GM is going to overpay for a third pairing D just because of the way he shoots, and the leafs are not going to trade a valuable chip like Kapanen for a third pairing D because he shoots right. RHD are hard to come by, but the over-valuing of them on this site by most is insane.
