Marner To Montreal

Created by: Dar_Krum

Description
First, Bergevin isn't going to offer sheet anyone. I get it. But this is fun anyway...

Toronto likely has to match an offer from a divisional rival, but here we go. If they were to match, I'd immediately make an offer for Kapanen.

How do you go from an offer sheet of $15.4 and then sign him to $11M?

Also the Philly deal would never happen

Offersheet AAV isn't a straight average, it is the total contract value devided by the lesser of; the length of the contract, or 5 years.

In your mind, who are the four better players? And, more importantly, do they play for teams with cap issues who might not be able to match the offer?

I said three. Aho is better, Rantanen is better and Point is better. Point is on Tampa who has cap issues bigger than Toronto. Also you can offersheet Laine who is on cap strapped team.

I guess it depends on what you value more. I'd likely agree with you on Rantanen. Disagree on Aho. And yeah, the Bolts are in a lot of cap trouble, but I like Marner more than Point.

But the Above AVV offer sheet is $15.4M not $11

In this situation. Marner accepts a 7 year deal at $11mil aav. total of $77mil. When calculating for compensation, the offer sheet AAV takes the total amount ($77mil) and divides it by 5 years (or less). $77mil divided by 5 is $15.4mil.

i would not say any are "better". All comparable but Mitch has more points and is better defensively than all of them.

Winnipeg has plenty of cap to make it work.

So yes toronto would match and then you go after Kapanen who is a finn which we are now hoarding to play with kotkaniemi... toronto will not be able to afford Kapanen at 4-5 million and he makes us better..
