I don't agree. MacKinnon has doubled his point totals since playing with Rantanen. Marner needs Tavares to produce the way he does also. I dont know know how people think Marner drives a line when the actual stats show he doesn't. He was outright dreadful without tavares last year. The stats are the stats

No doubt Marner is a good right winger. I don't have the stats but one reason Marner had so many last year, wasn't because he was RWer but because he was very good at the right point on the Leafs PP.
Folks think Kadri is (was) a superior 3C because of two 30 seasons. Believe he had 13 goals per season as LWer with Matthews, and Nylander on the PP...not because of 3C position.
I'll continue the rant. Folks criticize Zaitsev (with some justification) for his lack of point production. But he never had the opportunity to play the PP...hence lower points. He was on the ice after the Leafs PP, playing against the opponents top line.

I'm not necessarily a stats guy, but there are so many factors in gaging a players "value."

Did I say Tavares made his linemates worse? Geez. Talk about twisting someone's words. Lol.

You said Mitch Marner drives the play on that line. He doesn't. Marner AND Tavares drive the play on that line. You can't just exclude John Tavares.

I just don't see they Flyers trading Myers. I could be wrong though.

I didn't say anything about Myers in that quote.

I know Leaf fans are hoping that Marleau and Zaitsev are traded to eliminate cap problems but if they aren't traded, and even if they are...Leafs might be wise to take the that trade you suggested.
Don't think you offered Vegas enough though.

I've seen a lot of Vegas fans interested in this trade. Rumor is that Miller's price is a second it might be a little bit of an underpay for Smith but they seem to want him gone to create cap for Karlsson and Gusev.

Watch the games man. Marner is the guy who carries the puck up the rush the most. Toronto's 1st unit PP runs through Marner primarily. Marner is the guy at the point controlling where the puck goes, while Tavares is the net front presence. I'm not saying Tavares doesn't drive play at all, he does too and for $11M per season I'd hope he did it well to. But this is the argument of analytics vs. the eye test. I'm one that uses analytics a lot, but you can't discredit the eye test either. & the eye test shows that Marner is the puck carrier and making the plays, Tavares is the finisher. They're a great duo.

You didn't but he seems to be the guy most people are eyeing. I would say ghost for kadri and a 4th but most leafs fans dont want a LHD.

Value is there but Leafs don't want to move Kadri

I disagree. In fact, I strongly disagree. I think the Maple Leafs jump on that 11th overall pick and worry about solving the ramifications in the summer.

In my opinion, Toronto would accept that offer in a flash. But, as my esteemed colleague palhal says, Smith and Miller together would cost a first and a third, at least. And since they need RDs, Myers comes back into the discussion.

I think Ratcliffe has a similar value to a first after the year he just had in the O again I could be wrong but IMO Ratcliffe and a 3rd= 1st and 3rd or it at least close.

That's a fair assessment. My feeling is that unless a prospect is drafted in the first half of the first round, he doesn't have first-round value. Look at, for example,Timothy Liljegren. Drafted 17th overall and seems to be progressing nicely into perhaps making the team next season. But cannot be considered the equivalent of a first-round pick.

Anything that brings 1st Pick for Kadri should be done deal. in this case its 11OA, so yes, jump on it and flip it further for top pair RHD. Do the same with our own 1st 2020.

As ANA fan what would bring 1st out of them for Kadri ? I mean what would the trade be, cause he would be good fit there also, i still see Sam Steel like 3#C for two more years...

I honestly didnt pay attention to the 11th overall part. I would likely do it but at the same time I hate not having a go to #3 centre. Nylander has to play with Matthews IMO

Kadri for that #29 sure is tempting. The problem is that Anaheim and Toronto are such bad trade partners because both need RD so badly.

Well my idea curentlly is Kadri for 1st ( 29th is a bit to low i would say ) and flip the pick right over for a RHD. Something like i did here :
