Moving Voracek and Ghost

Created by: Jaycee
Team: 2019-20 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 18, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
A little shake up in Philly. Moving 2 core pieces out in Ghost and Voracek, but the returns are reasonable and make sense. Subban has been rumored to be on the market and they are looking for offense in return. Voracek can provide that being a 60-80 point player. Contracts are around the same price so makes sense. Philly gets a much needed Top Pair D man for Provorov for at least the next three years at 9m. Also helps with the future and signing young guys. Voracek at 8.25m for the next 5 years could’ve caused some cap issues. Next, Ghost for Drouin. In my other posts this has been my trade when it comes to Ghost. Seems like MTL is rumored to be most interested and I believe Chuck knows it has to be Drouin at least. Drouin known for having extreme talent but just having a weird career. Think being in Philly can be a breathe of fresh air and could see him produce very well playing along side Giroux-Coots. Comes at a much more manageable cost at a 5.5m AAV and can most likely give you as much production as Voracek. Last move is trading for Kapanen’s rights. If we want Kap I believe trading for his rights is the way to go. Can get him at a much more reasonable price contract wise. No need to over pay with an offer sheet. He’s unproven but shown promise and worth the risk to take. And hell hes Sami Kapanen’s kid so why not lol.
And yes when looking at the lineup that is Joël Farabee on the 4th line. I think he blows away everyone in camp. He has the scrappiness to his game to start out at 4th line minutes. Maybe he eventually earns the third line spot and you bump Lindblom down. Vigneault is known for playing talented rookies on the 4th line, ask Rangers fans about Buchnevich. Nothing wrong with having talent up through the whole lineup.

MTL accept, but Schlemko have negative value, you wont get a 4th round pick back & it will cost more than a 6th for them to take Schlemko

I'd rather Voracek and Ghost then Drouin and Subban.

MTL declines

anyone who follows hockey knows you're not getting Drouin .

its why all Ghost trade speculation is around Shaw and Byron since GM Fletcher was interested in them when asked about cost for Ghost.
MTL is only in the running on Ghost because we're willing to give up the 15th overall pick

i mean if PHI wants to gives up Provorov we'd give you Drouin but outside that no deal

I think the Toronto trade is a dream that is far from reality. Kapanen showed he can play anywhere in the lineup. Although Laughton showed he belongs in the NHL, Hagg is a fringe player who couldn't get many minutes playing on a team that let in the third most goals.

You got that wrong because Fletcher has made it known to the media he isn’t shopping Ghost or the 11th pick. He’s allowing teams to come to him about the. He stressed he doesn’t have to part with either unlesss a significant piece is in return.

That deal would’ve been done by now if all he wanted was Shaw in return. Ghost won’t be moved unless it’s worth it.

So you’re telling me you would rather pay Voracek 8.25m for the next 5 years. Then have Drouin at 5.5 for 4. I don’t see how that makes sense when you get the same production from Drouin especially if he’s given talented linemates

Voracek can get over 80 points. That's pretty good for 8.25M.

Yes he can but has only done it twice in his career. Will be 30 next season and under contract until 35. Really want that money tied up in an aging winger? Especially when you have to pay giroux and Coots in 3 years. Also have promising wingers in Frost, Farabee and Ratcliffe that can’t be blocked forever.

Now that they just traded for Braun we know for sure this isn't happening.

You do realize Subban is under contract right? Don’t need to put more money down on him. 3 years left at 9mil for a top pair D man to play with Provorov filling a need. Don’t see how that’s a problem. Only adding 750k in cap.

Sounds like the lie MB told the Media about Subban and Pacioretty .
MTL's heard our GM say that same thing then 2 weeks later explain why he had to lie to avoid de-valuing the player.

As far as Shaw being moved in the bundle , as i always do after the trades happen
i'll be back to remind you who's theories were based on reality.

Ghost will get moved as confirmed by the Acquisition of top 4 RD Niskanen and Braun have confirmed that much and made it obvious to even non hockey fans with no experience in these matters .

Provorov -Niskanen
Sanheim-Braun

with Sanheim's breakout year last season offensively you wont see him losing his top 4 spot for Ghost
Sanheim has the potential to be better the Ghost so there is no upside.

you'll see Ghost traded for a top 20 pick this year whether its MTL or someone else given the RD prospects residing there .
other pieces may be involved but they'll be Picks not prospects .

Ghost may get value but that will come in the form of high draft picks ,you're not getting established Talent or top Amateur prospects for a D who plays under 20 minutes on average . Petry had more Potential , was younger and cost us a 2nd and a conditional 5th . Ghost has term where Petry had 3 weeks left on his rights so you're looking at a 1st and a late 2nd guaranteed in a Shaw deal .

Ghost
for

Shaw
15th overall pick(Seidier best RD avail)
50th overall pick (Nolan Foote )

this gives PHI what it needs in the Short term
gives PHI what it needs long term allowing them to draft the RD they needed for almost 10 years now along
with giving them Foote a 6'3 goal scorer with size/speed
