Honestly both sides probably benefit. Yeah Kessel is an awesome player, but he likely won't score as much on Arizona as he did in Pittsburgh and he's also getting older. Penguins get a young player who has scored 30 in this league before, I also think Joseph is a pretty underrated prospect (could be a really solid 2nd pairing PP specialist eventually), and they get cap space. Arizona got the scoring they need, Pittsburgh got the youth and cap they wanted.

If the pens can sign another solid top 6 forward then Id say pittsburgh wins. But if nothing happens Id say ARZ

I think Pierre-Oliver Jospeh is a fantastic prospect. He's years away though. Could look back and really applaud this trade.

Short term this a horrible trade and reeks of Rutherford doing what he always does after a few years. Chuck is nowhere near Kessel's level offensively and is probably worse defensively. Brutal.

Of all the players rumored to be traded in the Kessel trade, this is the last player I wanted. Rutherford was rumored to like him when Arizona got him from Montreal. He is a negative player that has skill? Hopefully he gets traded to Minnesota for Jason Zucker. Obviously this is the first trade with a couple cap dumps coming up. There are several wingers in free agency that will make this trade okay if we are able to sign one.

This is good for Phil Kessel and I wish him all the luck in Arizona. He was a big part of 2 Stanley Cups. Thanks Phil.
