Dubas doesn't listen to what the mob wants, he does whats best for the team. I am so happy we don't have guys like Benning or Fenton. Those guys have no clue what they are doing but are scared the mob will cost them their jobs so they reach for stuff.

That was before his agent went looking for offer sheets and didn't get anything close to what he wanted. Now Ferris has to deal with Dubas from a position of weakness.

Marner's bluff kind of just got called by MB. And that's going well for him right now.

And the leafs can afford Barrie at that hit next year if they choose .

by long term i meant basically more than 3. anything more than 1 really because his cap will still be on the books for next year. Toronto will have more than 45% tied up in 4 forwards.

There's more than enough cap to match an OS that isn't coming..

Marner is in no way more important than the team. As yesterday showed..

But Marner at Paul Dreger's amount would be a mistake.

He can wait till the day before the season starts. The Leafs don't have the cap space to handle a prorated contract. So he can sit all year if he wants to wait it out. As for them not going anywhere without him. I'd wager, Tavares, Matthews, Nylander, Kapanen, Johsson etc would disagree.

they didnt go far last year with marner. given dcorp looks better but you subtract a 96 point player from that equation and things change for sure. Especially since matthews hasnt stayed healthy last 2 years. Its going to be interesting for sure with Marner.

I think it will be very anti climactic. He'll sign and the Leafs will have a full roster (Minus injuried players) at training camp. A full year with Nylander on Matthews wing and Marner and the other young players developing more and this team will be scary.

So??? I imagine the Leafs have no intention to resign Barrie, he just cost them Rosen and a third. So Marner isn't signing for 10m a season? Since it unlikely a team is going offer more than very comparable Aho whose top offer was 8.45m. Marner has the contractually right to sign with any team in any league in the world. So naming teams that are going pay over 10m would be appreciated.
