Youth Movement

Created by: Salzy
Team: 2019-20 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 15, 2019
Published: Jul. 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Doesn't seem like another move is coming, I would like to add a more proven RD option but I'm not sure if we will, I feel like we should just commit to the youth movement. I'm not sure if all of them will be up, at the least I see Comtois, Terry, Steel and one of Guhle/Larsson/Mahura. I just brought almost everyone up for the sake of seeing a potential lineup

Lundestrom is gonna be solid, dont put him on the 4th line. Let him play top line minutes in the AHL

Yeah development wise I want whoever doesnt get the third line job goes back to SD, the real 4th line will probably be Deslauriers - Grant - Rowney, I see 3 spots being available for Sherwood, Terry, Comtois, Lundestrom and Steel

I think Terry and Steel are locks. Althought, not sure if they play on the same line, I can see Steel as the 3C and Terry as the 2RW with Kase being the 3RW to spread the depth. Comtois is a 50/50 id say imo

I could see Mahura sneaking in and getting a top 6 spot on the defence and maybe play 2RD, assuming no trade is made, he reminds me a bit of where MP was going into the 2018-19 season

If I had to guess right now I'd say its Steel, Terry, Comtois. I feel like Lundestrom is the least likely to make it based on the Centre spot going to Steel. Comtois was great in his 10 games last season, we sent him back to Junior so we dont need to protect him in the expansion draft, I see him up full time this season, he had 7 points in the 10 last season.

I put Ritchie with Henrique and Kase cause thats the line that got Ritchie his best hockey. I can see Terry playing with Getz and Rakell, and Silf playing with the rookies

Yeah that's a very real posibility, I put Guhle and Larsson cause they were closer to the roster when I was setting it ahah, I really like Mahuras game

Having watched Spronger play with the Islanders (Q), the kid has immense talent. I keep saying "Hey, if anyone can convince this kid to play in his own end, it'll be (Name whichever coach he's had in the NHL).

He's so talented, but is an absolute head case. I can't imagine you get anything close to what you gave up for him, which is unfortunate. I'd give him a couple of months with Eakins to see if he can drill it into his head before moving him.

100%, I just dont see where he fits that isnt the 4th line. I know that was part of the reason PIT moved him. If he's willing to play 4th line minutes I definitely want to keep him, I believe Eakins can get the most out of him. I dont see him over Kase or Silf and if Terry plays RW only slot open for him would be the 4th line cause Terry wont be up to play 4th line minutes

This is said about Sprong a lot but he mostly played in the bottom-six last year. His even-strength ice-time was 11:48 which was on par with Derek Grant. 15 of his 19 points were at even-strength so it's not like he was ineffective with his limited ice-time. I mean, if we were deploying a fourth-line of grinders that see the ice once in a while I could understand this position but that wasn't the case and won't be the case going forward. Eakins has already said he plans to roll four lines and he kind of has to. If anything I see Sprong as a weapon down in the lineup because his skill is far superior to your average bottom-six forward.

At the very least there is zero pressure to move him. He makes absolute peanuts and if he produces like he did last year over an entire season he'll be one of the biggest bargains in the league. If not, he's a 700K player that'll have a nice spot to watch the games in club section. Plus, it'll really suck if we move him and we get hit with injuries again. It's not like he'll never have an opportunity to play higher in the lineup.

Given how everyone seems to get hurt on this team, I'm sure he'll squeeze his way in there somewhere.

I keep Sprong for a while and see what we have in everyone. Someone will get moved eventually, but probably mid-season or at the TDL.

I think Comtois makes it. He's certainly good enough to be in the NHL already.

Yeah if he accepts the role of a 4th liner (where I see him) I'd have no desire to trade him unless a deal that makes sense for us comes along. I love him as a player, I can just see a scenario where he could potentially get moved for help on D. He can definitely slide up and down the lineup which makes him very valuable to us. I can't wait to see if Eakins can help him reach his potential

What about Jones? He will probably get the opportunity before Sherwood & Comtois (even though Comtois is better)
