The thing with Tampa though is we all know that hell sign for 8 times 8 or something cheap like that. Remember they sign Kuch to a 9mil per year contract

Two things are possible then.

Either:
The marner projections are bonkers

Tampa fans are delusional on his value

Both might be true

Kuch is the 3rd highest paid winger in NHL history by AAV.
And we don't 'know' anything

That, Marner is a great player and I never want to lose him, but you cant argue youre worth more than Kuch who out scored you by 40 points, your stats got a huge both with JT and your just coming out of your ELC.

It's all about comparables, you guys handed JT 11 mil then handed Matthews 11.6, Marner who has been the team leader in points for the past few years has no reason not to argue for 11 mil.
Where point has comparables of stamkos and kucherov sitting at 9.5 and 8.5. He can't argue for more than kucherov because he hasn't proven he's better.

Where the skill level between Marner and Point is pretty close they're in two different scenarios, i think points contract will be team friendly between those 2 and i don't know if toronto will be as lucky with Marners.

Just because you play in the same team doesn't make one player your comparable, and just because you don't play with another player doesn't mean they aren't. I've gone over this whole 'marner was the points leader's argument too many times to do it again, but in short, it isn't an argument and ignores all context.

Marner is worth around what Aho got, point is worth closer to 10.

I think Marner rightfully deserves something around 9 million. As for how many years? I would love 8 but who knows

Lol don’t be sorry, everyone has differing opinions. It’s just I’m not high on Killorn at all and I don’t like the term on his contract. If we make a trade I’m hoping we trade for a bonafide top 6 winger or Nikita Gusev

Killhorn is a solid player and if the Isles could send back Hickey and a pick that would be better. The problem is just they have way too much money in bottom 6 forward with Clutterbuck, Czizkas and Uncle Leo at $3M+ each, Ladd at $5M and Martin at $2.5M although he only has 1 Year left. I get that you are looking to just move him and a 2nd round pick seems fair, the Isles just cannot afford to add more money into the bottom 6 with the new contracts coming up for Barzal and Pulock.

Point's not getting more than $9.5m. It's hard for him to argue that he's more important to our team than the Hart-winning Kucherov or the Vezina-winning Vasilevskiy. Odds are, we try to bridge him for three years in exchange for him taking an even lower AAV. Yes, he's worth around $10m, but is Point really worth more than the combined value of Cernak, Sergachev, and Cirelli?
