"If I was GM". The GMs of Ducks, Wild and Isles certainly would be looking for employment if they made those trades.

It's not that bad. The only awful trade here is with the Wild. Retaining 750K on the ducks trade makes it more worthwhile for ANA. Dropping the 3rd to a 6th on the NYI trade is fair (though NYI has 4C figured out so they wouldn't make that move). BUF and DET trades are somewhat realistic, but if I were BUF I'd want stetcher back.

It saves the ducks actual money. Minnesota is looking to be back in the playoffs and Tanev would help on the defensive end as they do not need Greenway because of the surplus of 20-23 y/o bottom six forwards. I can understand why Islanders deal might be unrealistic but I think they would be willing to pay a higher price because of how much Trots values Beagle.

Buffalo is trading Risto because they have a surplus of RD they would not want Stecher, they would want a top 6 fw.

Minny has Dumba, Spurgeon, Pateryn on right side, they have no need for an overrated RD. They can’t afford to give up Greenway, their fw prospect pool is pretty shallow. This is purely a dumb move for them. Trading from a weakness to fix a strength on team that is pitiful offensively and in no shape to win now. Makes zero sense.

So let's do some math here about that "higher price."

Next year, the Islanders have to re-sign Barzal, Puloch and Toews. Martin is coming off the books, so this trade would leave them with $3MM cap room less than they would have otherwise. Now as to actual money, Martin costs them $1.75MM this year and that's it. Beagle costs them $7.6MM over the next three years. And at 33, do you really think he's got 3 more NHL years in him?

Bottom line: I don't think Lamoriello makes this trade even if the third were on the other side.

That's assuming Kesler's contract isn't insured.

Sabres are almost certainly looking for a center or rw. Doubt theres much interest in a couple b prospects and a pair of 3rds. Vancouver doesnt work here.
