Ottawa moves getting Pitt and NYR under cap

Created by: sens2020
Team: 2019-20 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 30, 2019
Published: Jul. 30, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Two simple trades Ottawa could make to allow both teams to get under salary cap.

Rangers would get a cap dump and in return a middle six winger at a reduced rate that could help them win now. If boedker had support and PP time I could easily see him putting up 25 goals

Pittsburgh basically moves back in the draft 15-20 sports and in return gets to move some cap space, could also be Jack Johnson coming to Ottawa.

Out of all of this Ottawa retains salary for only one year each contract, gets a servicable D man for the third pair that allows their prospects more time to develop and gets to move up and gain a pick in the draft

Do you think it is an overpayment on Ottawa part? Could remove the second or have Pitt add another pick?

I’d straight up kill a man for this trade to be reality.

Would you give up another second or third round pick?

If Ottawa were taking on Johnson I would but Gudbranson is surprisingly serviceable he just isn’t worth $4M

The Rangers have a good chance of being a Lottery team so I don’t think they give up their 2020 1st. Especially if it’s only clearing up just over 2M in cap.

Penguins decline.
They give up the better player and a 1st to save roughly 2.8 million in cap for 2 seasons. No thanks.
43.2% corsi on 5v5 play, he's 12% down from Gudbranson playing with the penguins. On top of it Gudbranson brings intangibles the penguins need and Borowiecki is often injured playing 50 games the past 2 seasons.
Hard pass.

This is weak at best.

That was the idea with Ott taking Gudbranson instead og Johnson they could allow their guys to play in the AHL and develop instead of playing minimal third line time, think trade would be great for both teams

Yeah I totally agree...Borowiecki would make a great 7th D.

Right path wrong price. NYR not giving up a first to clear salary. Tor did it because they are a win now team. Rangers are just in build mode.

I feel like it’s the perfect move if they trade any other pick but the first....

If they aren't trying to win now would they give up a second in exchange for an Ott fifth or sixth? Kind of like the trade Ott and TBL just pulled off

Maybe a first in 2021 or 22? Any prospect instead?

Maybe a 2nd or a prospect. The issue at hand here is that the Penguins will most likely need that first rounder to rid themselves of Jack Johnson so it doesn’t make sense to use it in a move to rid themselves of a guy who’s actually decent but makes too much money.

....that was a 5th for a 6th. a moot point because the difference between a late 5th and early 6th is like 6 spots lol

no one should take this seriously, absolutely clueless.
It's post like this that have Gusev going for 2 1st round picks and the teams best prospect.

Come back down to reality.
This is a horrible trade for the penguins, it's not even close and they wouldn't even make it if it was 1 for 1.
It also won't cost anywhere near a 1st to trade JJ.

Boro makes 1.2M they retain 1/2 that's 600K... not sure where you come up with 2.8M but small brains ya know...

Since 2014, Boro GP: 301
Gudbranson GP: 298

Narrative BORO is always "often" injured applies to Guds too.. I'd rather pay a guy 600k and play 50 games than 4M.. logic my friend!

CF% since 2014
BORO: 45.7%
GUDS: 46.68%

Paying 3.4M in the difference for Guds is NOT worth it. Moving down to get rid of him is.
