I think you overshot on Gallagher's value. I am not sure if Clutterbuck is just a throw in for this deal, but he has pretty decent and remains one heck of a penalty killer.

I like Gallagher but Dobson is too much for him.

I think the draft pics are on the wrong side of the deal. Dodson is a great prospect but Juulsen is as well and Gally is easy 30.

first off, islanders are smart enough to hold onto Dobson, so don't bother trying to trade him lol. If Montreal approached with a package of any sort I doubt the islanders would budge on Dobson, but maybe they would offer up Bode Wilde, Kieffer Bellows & Wahlstrom Etc. Even then I think the islanders should focus on adding up front and I don't think Gallagher solves your problems.

I can see you love Dobson. I totally get why. But he's not being traded.

Not enough for Gallagher. Especially when you include Juulsen + 2nd and 3rd on top of that? Dobson is a great prospect but RHD doesnt fill a need. Gallagher is the heart of the team. For that package you’d meed Aho + Wahlstrom

I get what you say, but in 2 years, you will have too many top6 RW with Caufield, Suzuki, Gallagher and Domi (yes Domi and Suzuki will play on the wing since KK, Danault and Poehling are good natural 2-way centers). And you say Dobson does not fill a need, but Weber and Petry will get old and Brook, Fleury and Juulsen are not potential 1st pair, but Dobson is. For now, trading Gally for Dobson does not look perfect, but in long term, this is the Trade to do.

I wouldn’t trade Dobson for Gallagher + drouin. He is a blue chip prospect and will likely hit his ceiling

I think they'd be better off trading a center prospect like Suzuki or Domi, cause like you said in 2 years they will be center heavy. Plus the next 2 drafts are deeper then have been in years. Mtl will get a #1 defender off Nashville for convincing Webber to stay when he is is gong to retire a year or 2 early.
