Description
Oh if it was so easy.
Good veterans on all four lines (Domi, Gallagher, Danault, Byron) and a logjam of talent on the RW. (Proving that a Laine trade is not necessary in the long run..)

FEAR THAT FIRST LINE.

Contracts may not be exact but assuming there isn't a cap increament we still have 4M$ in bank so no cap issues really.

As a fellow Habs fan, I fear that Gallagher might ask for big money (7+ million) as a UFA since he's been on such a steal of a contract for his whole career. Hopefully, he takes less money to stay in MTL.

For 3-4 years I wouldn't mind going to 7M$/year (If he keeps putting 30 goals a year he kinda deserves it) it would bring him to 32-33 years of age so we could settle for a smaller contract for a veteran 3rd liner.

Habs should tank this season to try to for the Alexis Lafrenière lottery pick ... Lafrenière-Kotkaniemi-Caufield = Cup contender

Damn, this team actually kinda nice. They should deal Tatar and Petry now for picks/prospects and do a quick re-tool.

Maybe not tank but if you trade let say Tatar for a 1st and Petry for another you kinda have the ammo's to trade up. I don't know if I'd do it especially that it's a deep draft so talent close to his could still be there at 10-15 (Caufield slipped, Walshtrom the year before, Nick Suzuki, etc) but if I have a 13OA + 17OA I guess they consider it?

Don't think it'd be here (Or he'll sign and get traded couple years down the road). The money isn't an issue but the term is, I'd see Danault leave or take term cut so we can move Suzuki to pivot the third line and Ylonen upgrade to third line RW.

if they arent in playoff contention by the tdl, i can see them trading both tatar and petry for 1st rd picks and 2nd rd picks

I feel like next year is a win/win season for the Habs. Most of the core is still young an has some room to grow (KK,Poehling,Mete,Julsenn,Lehko,Domi,Drouin and even Danault). Either we go in the playoff and possibly a quick exit (that would still be nice to give experience to all our yougster. Either we miss the playoff and hopefully get a top 10 picks. Lafreniere,Byfield,Raymond,Holtz,Lundell,Perfetti,Lapierre,Gunler and the German (tim dont remember is last name sorry) are all elite potential forward and Barron/Drysdale are good D with elite skating. If we can get 2 first rounder (IDK how smile) it would be great. Also would be nice for the kids in Laval to have playoff.

Yeah I'd say by this mock our "weak link" would be at LW and knowing there's 6 out of the 10 best prospect at this year's draft are LW is kind of amazing.. I wouldn't reach but as explained with Tatar and Petry trades we'd have a ton of picks to move up big time, AT HOME!

the lines imo should be
Domi KK Caufield
Drouin Suzuki Gallaghar
Lehkonen Poehling Ylonen
Byron Evans Teasedale
the D core is fine. primeau should be in laval and mcniven as the backup
