Joseph and a 2nd/3rd seems like a decent move.

he needs some finnish talent around him. make him feel comfortable. dallas works but idk if the oilers want to trade him to the same conference. carolina could be an option. florida as stated before. maybe even mtl. i can see the rangers going after him

I was thinking Joseph....but Joseph only. Oilers get a player immediately. Tampa gets an injured player with upside. On this site, I think Pujo's value is very overstated...but all it takes is one NHL GM to think he is worth more.

Trying to get a little creative with it:

Tampa gives one of their expensive, but still decent wingers (Killorn?) And they give a 3rd team a pick to take some bad contract from Edmonton (Russell?).

Tampa gets a high upside high risk prospect while dumping some serious cap, and Edmonton gets a guy who can still be a very solid winger for them, without adding much on the cap.

I think adding the pick helps you beat out competing offers. PoolParty has a lower floor but a higher ceiling. Well worth the risk of a 2nd/3rd.

Nobody is waiving to go to EDM though.

I understand your logic. I just question how many "real" offers are forthcoming. But you know Tampa...within two years he's a 2nd line winger with 25 goals and 35 assists.

Probably not, but use your imagination a little bit. Kind of the whole point of this hypothetical. Is it really such a massive stretch to think that someone might consider waiving to play with the best player in the world?

FL taxes, FL weather, TBL success vs the alternative? Nah I don't think anyone would consider waiving to maybe play with McDavid when they already get to play with Point, Kuch, Stamkos, Hedman, etc.

How about this:

TB acquires Puljujarvi
EDM acquires Killorn
OTT (or any other cap-dump team) acquires 2020 3rd, Russell

A good idea for both sides but as has been pointed out few guys are waiving for the Oilers(No offense to Edmonton but the team is a train wreck even with the best player in the the world).

Gotta wonder if say Pulujarvi and a 2nd wouldn't of gotten the Oilers JT Miller, that wouldn't of given a 2nd line winger for either Drai or RNH to work with.

Oh well Miller is a Canuck now and the Oilers have Neal so we'll see how that goes, if one of the Lightning middle 6 wingers would waive for Edmonton it's an idea that works for both teams really, throw in Domingue too cause who knows how that Koskinen/Smith tandem is gonna work... Lol

That's along the lines of what I was thinking. It's a creative solution to create space, and Edmonton gets a better player that can make them better now.

A 3rd isn't enough for some team to take Russell and he has trade protection as well. It's all hypothetical here obviously but in reality it's not as easy as we all think it is.. Lol

Cirelli would be the perfect center for Puljujarvi imo.

A Volkov-Cirelli-Puljujarvi line would be huge for the development of all three

Cap dump team would need to be given more than just a 3rd.

I think he could really flourish in Tampa. Id love to see Ottawa take a swing on him, but that seems unlikely.

Could be anyone's guess. My gut says no NHL team is willing to pay the price Holland is still asking for and rightfully so, so he's trying to package Poolparty as part of a bigger deal to bring back value instead if all else fails.

Puljujarvi's value really is in the eyes of the beholder. Whoever believes in him the most, will get him and will probably pay a little more than what most people think is fair value. If he pans out, it'll look like a steal. If he doesn't, a wasted trade. No one will know until it happens.

Trades I see happening:
1) similar struggling prospect who was drafted high and hasn't panned out
2) part of a package to acquire a younger established forward who is under team control for a couple of seasons. I think Holland wants a forward around Nuge's age and maybe Killorn is a bit old for that.
