Tatar would be the top point producer on the Sabers second line, still has 2 years left on his AAV. Is he not worth a 1st and a prospect?

Yes but not a great prospect like him. Pacioretty got a great prospect + 2nd round pick in return ( Tatar was just throw in there lol ). Tatar vs 1st + 2nd round pick is the best MTL will get for him IMO

Pacioretty had one year left , Tatar has 2 years left. Tatar is now out pointing Patches.

Pacioretty was extended, that was part of the deal. Pacioretty is a top5 goals scorer in the last 5-6 years.

Considering how good and even Atlantic Division is, if you trade out one of your TOP3 wingers, you can pretty much count yourself out of the playoffs.

Especially if you deal with Sabres - your biggest competition...

I like tatar but its too much for buffalo to give, for a strong prospect and their first they can probably do better

that is just not true, hes 3 seasons removed form his last 30 goal season and in the last 5 years hes not a top 5 goal scorer hes in fact 18th, whitch in the scope of this league isn't bad but he isn't elite any more. Hes good but thats it.

A 20 goal scorer is not worth a quality prospect/young NHL ready dman and a possible lottery first.

I wouldn't move him out of elite category yet.
He was injured last year and still had reasonable stats for being on a new team.
That Pacioretty - Stastny - Stone line is going to do serious damange next year
I see no reason why he can't score 30-35 goals

Ho sang with some new scenery could work out very well for some teams. If you could trade for him for relatively low value I think its worth the risk even though he seems to have a terrible attitude (Surprised Lou hasn't been able to change that yet)

Tatar scored almost 30 playing with Danault(who is not offensive at all) as a center. With how bad Ottawa, Detroit, Anaheim, LA, Wild and EDM will be, Sabers will be picking around 8-12. But yea should have given Juulsen instead of Ouellet and I think the trade is fair.
