Out of curiosity, why do you think the Flyers have a good chance at the playoffs? They certainly have a good team, but I find that selection odd just because they missed the playoffs last season and I don't see how they've really improved. On the other hand, it looks like they might just have resolved their goaltending problems and they do have some good defensemen in Provorov/Gostisbehere and a great top-six (Giroux, Couturier, Voracek, van Riemsdyk, Hayes, Konecy) and Frost as a talented prospect. But considering how much NYR, NJD, and FLA improved, I have trouble seeing it.

I think Montreal takes that and politely says thank you while their at it; have you seen their depth chart? They have Suzuki, Caufield, Phoeling, Ylonen, etc coming up looking for roster spots and this frees one up while giving them 3 more picks to restock the cupboards.
