All of their "bad" contracts can be traded FOR picks. Even if you get a bad return on a Killorn or something, you'll still be able to clear a bunch of space without paying for it like Boston might need to with Backes

Think you're optimistic on those trades. If teams aren't sending money back to Tampa they are giving up much for meh players. Plus the NTC or even M NTC severely limits the leverage Tampa has in any trade negotiation.

Maybe a little high on Tampa return .. Killorn Gourde are 3rd liner types on Tampa but could be 2nd or even 1st on other teams.. Arizona Kings Buffalo etc...

I’m not even certain about Sergachev getting more than Cernak. $5.5m would be a huge overpayment on a bridge deal.

The way we bridge players is by giving them a way lower AAV for three years and then giving them huge deals afterwards with little leverage on our parts and just enough AAV for things to somehow work out in the end. Point is not necessarily more valuable than Stamkos, and if he wants Stamkos’ money, he’s going to have to take Stamkos’ term. Going based on team comparables, a bridge for Point would mean something in the $6m range. I don’t know if Point would sign that just because of team comparables when he’s worth more, but anything above $7.5m will likely require UFA years. $8.5m is not a bridge deal.

Shattenkirk isn’t re-signing as long as Foote stays on track. There’s a decent chance of Coburn staying instead. Paquette might be good trade bait and I don’t see us keeping that contract. If you don’t overpay Joseph, Sergachev, or Point (for whom $8.5m is good value, but not on a bridge), and move Paquette, we’re fine.
