Crazy Marner Trade

Team: 2019-20 New York Islanders
Team Explanation
After the season, or at the deadline, the islanders will trade Nick Leddy. Then I think the isles will either trade Leo Komorav or Cal Clutterbuck. They could probably sell Komorav for less because he is more valuable at this point. That should be more than enough to sign the big RFAs. Note, I don’t think they islanders should do this, it is too much to give up, and it is too much money.

This is one of those trades where it's cheaper to offer sheet the player...

Thats an overpayment but you all know it starts with Dobson and 2020+2022 1st rounders.

Offer sheet would make more sense, if that's the deal.

I don't think the Leafs would resort to a trade, even if they went into the season without Marner signed. In fact, I've been told by people in the organization that the Leafs have discussed internally letting him sit the entire season if he is not signed by the start of camp. Nothing official on that yet, obviously. For a trade to occur, the Isles would have to fork up Dobson, Pulock and a 1st rounder.

The offer sheet idea assumes that Marner signs it...which of course when he was approached by GMs he declined.
A trade is something he doesn't get a say in. Not saying this is a trade Leafs would be interested.
