Care to explain your reasoning? Zucker is a former 33 goal scorer and still scored over 20 in a down year, Eriksson Ek's production has been worrying but he looked great as our 3C at the end of the year. Wahlstrom had a pretty concerning year in college and the Islanders have a ton of talented RD prospects/players which leaves Wilde as an odd man out. I'd say Wahlstrom's ceiling is probably a 50-60p player which is what Zucker already is and Wilde is probably a good #4 D. Both are"maybes" right now, while Zucker and Ek are known quantities. As for Tampa, they need a top pairing D to play with Hedman or McDonagh (I'm not convinced Shattenkirk is going to be a top 4 player again) and Spurgeon is our best defenseman, and quite possibly our best player. Yes, he's a rental, which is why I gave them a good but not great prospect with Shaw (Pronman ranked him as our 6th best prospect this year).

Ok, what is your reasoning? See my previous comment to why I think it's fair. I'd be willing to tweak it, but the Isles are getting a very solid package IMO. Wahlstrom is no longer the prospect he was when he was drafted.

Lol it's been one year since Wahlstrom was draft, and he had a really strong end of the year.

One year is a long time, things can change a lot in that span. Like I said, I'm willing to tweak the trade. I'd love a counter offer.

I'm not butt hurt, I've said in nearly every one of my comments that I'm willing to make tweaks but so far only 1 person has made a counter offer.

Never said he was bad. We need a right shot winger and Wahlstrom is one. I view him as a potential 50-60p player someday, but obviously there's bust concerns.

This year Tampa would probably need to send back a bit more salary to make sure they have room to sign Point, depending on how that negotiation is going. It may be as simple as taking Condon as a cap dump. 50% retained Spurgeon would be close to Condon's buried cap hit and Sergachev combined.

Long term gets dicey for Tampa though. Spurgeon would probably want $6.5-7m to extend there and that would be tough for Tampa to do without moving more contracts next year. Short term it's a good upgrade, but I don't know how Tampa makes that work past this season and Sergachev has some level of cost control being an RFA next year.

Isles would not do that trade for a variety of reasons:

1) If the rumors are true and they signed Brassard, they now have 16 NHL Forwards (not including Ladd as I assume he is on LTIR next year). They would need to trade NHL roster forwards in order to make room for Zucker.

Lee-Barzal- Eberle
Beau-Nelson-Bailey
Dal Colle-Brassard-Komarov
Martin- Czizkas-Clutterbuck

Ho-Sang, Fritz, Johnston, Kuhnackal, Ladd

2) You mentioned Wahlstrom isn't the prospect he once was, I completely disagree with this statement. He is a top tier W prospect and the Isles best forward prospect. Erickson Ek is not the prospect he once was, he has not been very succesful in his NHL opportunities. Ek would be of no interest to the Isles as he would essentially be the same player as Dal Colle or Ho-Sang, a high draft pick who could still potential find a spot in the NHL but has shown very little so far.

3) Zucker's salary is not outrageous but the Isles cannot take on another long term $5M+ salary as they need to sign Barzal, Pulock, Toews next year. They already need to think about how to move salary out like Leddy to ensure they have space to sign all of those players who are core to the team.

I think some people here are overrating Sergachev lol. Spurgeon (as a rental) probably doesn't get you him but Spurgeon should still fetch a solid return overall.

my point is the trade would have to make total sense for tbl and min doesn't really have the assets to do so

Geez. Wahlstrom has a slightly disappointing season on a crappy BC team and people lose their minds. OP is clueless.

Yeah, I agree there. I think a good prospect+ a first and maybe another mid rounder could work.

Surgeon is a very good shut down guy, would definitely be a significant boost to that d core.

So you are saying Spurgeon, Top prospect, + a pick? that makes at least a tiny bit of sense.
