@bcarlo25 I'm In the group that thinks marners deal wont have much effect on the negotiations compared to all the other signings, they said on tsn overdrive marner likely went after all that money because he saw nylander and .matthews not take any discounts. I still think itll be under 10mill closer to the kucherov, draistal, tarasenko deals

I think you will be surprised when he gets close or the same as Marner. Hes literally the same player, maybe better, definitely more valuable to the team at least

I said it'd about Marner and I feel the same with this RFAs. Teams are only bidding against themselves. Lets' imagine the Avs top offer is 9m. and Ranaten wants 10.5m. There doesn't appear any team willing to pay him 10.5m and really only one team willing to offer him 9m. Unless he likes 2m in Europe, the Avs offer is the best $$$$ figure he's getting. Now he can try to negotiate for more, but the Avs unless they see an offer sheet have no reason to move from their current top offer.

Rantanen is not getting big, because of inner capceiling. MacKinnon is earning 6.3, it's very unlikely Rantanen gets 4.5M more than MacK. This is why Marner is a horrible comparison.

Calgary has the same issue with Tkachuk.

Guessing 3 years to avoid MacKinnon and Rantanen up for contract the same year.
