Need to send a better prospect than Beaucage. They could get something better for Hall

It’s going to cost you a lot more than that to rent Taylor Hall. The Jets paid more for Kevin Hayes last year.

a 1st round pick and Brendan Lemiuex is more that 2 1sts, AJ Greer who is basically the same level of player as Lemieux. Are you trolling?

Assuming Hall’s a rental, it’s a 1st & Lemieux vs. a 1st, AJ Greer, & Beaucage. Which I guess is about the same, but still, the Devils would be able to get more than that.

no they didnt. This is a competitive offer based loosely on the duchene trade. This has 2 very similar (if not even better) prospects to what CBJ gave up for Duchene, and two 1sts with conditions that favour the selling team more than the conditionals in the Duchene trade did.

I could understand if your criticism was that this trade is slightly off and if we needed to add another prospect and/or mid round pick, but to say that its not even close and that Kevin Hayes got more is just incorrect.

As I said before, I may have been exaggerating a bit. Assuming Hall’s a rental, this is about the same as the Hayes trade. Just saying that no one like Hall has been traded as a rental before, so a new precedent has to be set. Also Ottawa had their hands tied, since it was guaranteed Duchene was leaving.

Not saying its a good deal for the devils, thats not what I'm advocating, but you are saying the Jets paid more for Hayes and thats 100% false and an exaggeration.

To me the framework to a Hall trade was done last year.....what Stone was traded for. Realistically no one is opening up the asset piggy bank unless they know they can get him on the dotted line in an extension.

id be ok with adding another prospect, mid -round pick, and/or swapping beaucage for a different prospect. Take your pick from any of our prospects outside the recent 1st(ish) rounders(Byram, Timmins, Newhook, Kaut, Bowers)

Kovalenko probably would be a prospect a lot of teams would be interested in, Sasha Mutala is lighting up the WHL right now. I am a fan of beaucage as a prospect but there are some other high end high risk high reward prospects Avs could start to float out there if they felt like closing in on a trade with extension player like Hall

I dont think it was guaranteed that Duchene was going to leave OTT. iirc he wouldve considered staying in OTT if Stone stayed too, and Duchene was ultimately traded before Stone, so we will never know for sure. Youre also assuming the worst case scenario and disregarding the conditionals on the 2021 pick, and ignoring that the 2020 pick is not lottery protected, whereas the picks in both the Hayes deal and Duchene deal were lottery protected.

Its also very possible that NJD feels like Hall wont re-sign with them, so they might have their "hands tied" in this scenario too (although i didnt specify Hall and NJDs projected contract talks in this post, so I guess thats up for debate too)

Maybe Hall resigns with NJD. They have added some good players and it looked like he was have fun on the pp with Hughes. I don't know what he will do but this is very similar to Skinner's situation last year. Maybe he wasn't happy because he was expected to carry the team and the Devils weren't doing enough to get him help.

Agreed. I don't think Hall would be available unless NJD is clearly out of the playoff race and Hall wants to win now
