Trading for Bennett in the first place is bad enough, playing him in the top 6 is even worse

Same age as McCann who just recently figured his game out. High pedigree and upside, plays a style we lack and could benefit from a change of scenery. Why would the Pens not want to do that?

Bennett is what he is. He won't get better at this point. This year he's been average, over a 3-year sample, he's been awful.

The Penguins have too many forwards as it is right now, and they don't need grit to win. It'd be pointless in moving Galchenyuk and DeSmith for him

So a 23 year old has no chance of getting better?

Exactly, some players bloom late. He has yet to play on this refreshed, post - Peters Flames roster. When he comes back, that'll be a good test as to if there's more to him or not. He was a point per game player last year in the playoffs. I don't know if this trade is worth it for Penguins, I am not saying that he's gonna jump out and live up to that 4th overall potential. I am just saying in the future he may not be what he is right now exactly. Look at Burakovsky and Donskoi, could've said the same thing about them at the beginning of this year.

Hard pass from CGY, Bennett is still young has upside, value and term (rfa at end too). Chucky is a struggling UFA.
Talbot is better than DeSmith. Dont undertand this part of the trade at all, why would PIT want a more expensive 3rd NHL caliber goalie playing in the A?

He probably never will live up top his draft spot at least not in Calgary. However he has changed his game and become a solid middle 6 player with grit.

It’s impossible I guess. That’s the same age as guentzel so I guess he’s also not going to improve from last season right? Ha

He’s still fairly young and it’s not like he’s getting a different opportunity in Cal. Look at Tom Wilson guy was a 4th line grinder then they gave him a top line role and he’s a 40-50 point player

Bennett + Talbot for Galchenyuk + DeSmith

Calgary easily wins that trade.

Yea. That's exactly what I said.

Data suggests that player primes are now from 21-25 and they decline from 26 onwards

On average yes, doesn’t mean that there aren’t statistical anomalies. Rust is having a career year at 27

I'd like to see anything actually relevant that backs that up. Prime 21-25..... most players don't crack the nhl till they are 21. So rookies are in their prime immediately and will start to decline in 4 years....
That is complete nonsense.
