Quoting: BurgerBoss
Just checked. 2012-13 lockout ended in Jan 19 2013. Since that date Hall has scored 159+282=441 and Duchene has scored 175+243=418 points.
I was looking at "since the lockout season", you've included it.
Quoting: BurgerBoss
But the biggest difference in the amount of games played. Hall has only played 466 games during that timespan, Duchene has 539. meaning that Duchene has basically played one full season more games due to Hall's rotten luck with injuries and such.
You don't think that should be a consideration when you're thinking about signing a 28 year old player to a long-term contract?? That's a
negative for Hall, not a positive. He won't get less injury prone in his 30's.
If you want to look at it this way: in his career, Hall has averaged:
66 GP per season (average 16 games missed)
23 goals per season
60 points per season
Even if you think he can maintain his "prime scoring" deep into his 30's (highly unlikely), you're advocating paying $10M+ for a guy who will, on average, contribute about 60 points per season - hardly elite production. In the past 2 years, roughly 65 forwards have done better each year.
