I'm not sure Nurse is that much better than Dermott. Him and Kapanen for a kid that is going to want way too much money isn't smart.

There are Oiler fans on here who think the price for Larsson is Nylander. I wouldn't be surprised if they think Nurse is worth Matthews.

That doesn’t lower the value of Nurse only increases the odds they don’t move him for a player of lesser value.

Nylander for Nurse and spare tire, that would work, the Leafs will need a couple million off their cap next season to sign at least 1 of their 3 Top 4 UFA dmen - Muzzin, Barrie, Ceci.

There's 11 million in those 3 players alone, Leafs won't be signing Ceci so there's 4.5

And Nurse is a RFA who'll command 5+ million, so if the Leafs acquire him, he'll almost eat up the same salary cap hit as the Nylander contract minus 2 million.

Kapanen gets paid less than Nurse next year, so that doesn't happen, especially after Dumass giving an AHL Dmen 2 million instead of 800K.
