We have no reason to retain on Saad; Saad is certainly earning his cap hit. That said, you aren't getting Gus and Saad for Murray and a 3rd; pretty far off there. Saad is worth a 1st plus a decent prospect right now; Gus is worth a 2nd and 4th or 5th. So roughly the equivalent needs to come back in some shape or form.

^ Hawks fans have been overvaluing Saad on here a lot lately.. Bryan Rust is playing at an above PPG rate at almost 1/2 Saads cap hit and people would chastise you if you said Rust is worth a 1st + a decent prospect tears of joy

Saad is a 2 way defensive power forward, you don't rate wingers like that based purely on points it's a bad measuring stick. Stone didn't get his contract based on points, he earned it based on being a defensive power forward, it he was judged based on a points, it would have been $2M less. Same with Saad, it would be a $4M contract.

That's because his resume doesn't warrant it....are you seriously saying Rust is a better player? If so, enjoy Rust and don't worry about Saad. We know what Saad is worth and no Hawks fan wants to move him, and especially for peanuts and can promise it's not going to happen for peanuts if it happens at all.

Saad hasnt played extra special to warrant anything more than a 2nd+ 4th or 5th or c+ or b- prospect.

Wait you're kidding right? Stone has 4 60 point seasons and is coming off a 30 goal 73 point season (almost a point per game). is on a similar pace this year with 41 points in 44 games. Saad has 3 50 point seasons (none over 53, most recent was 16-17) and is coming off a 23 goal 47 point season. Two very different players that are in two completely different tiers. Saad was worth his contract when he got it. He is not worth his 6m cap hit now.

Notice I said "type" of player and notice I said they are each earning their different cap hits Stone's being $3.5M more as it should...there is no argument stone is a better player hands down and that's why he's paid A LOT more. They are the same type of player, defensively sound wingers, strong on the puck, excel in takeaways. I'll also point out stone had never exceeded more then 64 points prior to last year.

You haven't watched enough of what Saad does. Carolina last year offered a 1st for Saad and hawks obviously declined. Hockey GMs, coaches and players alike know what he's worth and objectively you are not correct. You can post all the AGM's you want here suggesting he's worth a 3rd round pick or 2nd and 4th but it's wrong.

This AGM trade is a joke at best, Murray and a 3rd for Gus and Saad (with retained salary). Moving on

Why would the Hawks want Murray, goaltending is the least of the Hawks worries? And going forward, probably makes more sense they just resign Lehner. But, Hawks will give you Gus for a 2021 4th round pick.

I went to AGMs, picked just Chicago, opened all of the ones on the first "page" (25)

Saad@contract is so good, that even though he is not a UFA rental (ie: he has term)... 19 of the last 23 Chicago AGMs (with trades, 2 were just lineup garbage) traded him, 1/3rd with retention.

Even Chicago fans know that: Saad + his contract = not good.

You can live in your delusion my friend. The team as a whole hasn't been good. It's only natural for ACGM's to be trading away pending UFAs or even 2 year pending UFAs for assets. CHI isn't the only fan base doing it.

Awesome! You're clearly better with Chucky as he's having an amazing season...perfect guy to lead the Pens into the playoffs with! applaud

Bottom line, you're not getting Saad and Gus for a 3rd and Murray ciao

when you think Saad is "leading" anyone into the playoffs.

Don't be bitter man. You stuck with that contract. Penguins don't want it.

LMAO we aren't bitter, we love saad and his contract....Hawks fans will be pissed if he gets trade me included for anything less then a 1st round pick and a B+ prospect and even then the response will be mixed from Hawks fans. You have zero idea what you're talking about if you think any Hawk fan is bitter about being "stuck with Saad"...that's purely ignorant on your part and shows you don't know the kind of player he is.

See... I am saying facts, 19 of 23, 1/3rd with retention, etc.

Delusion would be saying that it is natural for teams to trade away 2yr UFA, when it isn't, at all.
Delusion is saying that a players spends most of his time with X or Y, when they don't.
Delusion is saying that someone posting linemate time specific %'s is "random dumb thoughts", while admitting that you are just going from gut.

Well, on Chicago it isn't even top-5 worst. So I guess it is a matter of perspective.

We will jsut keep watching Hawk fans trade him away AGM after AGM... so much love.

Top 5 worst? Check your stats buddy

That's because all the rumors are swirling right now that Chicago is listening to offers. That said, just reported yesterday, the only way the Hawks trade Saad is for an overpayment, but there are a couple teams that should do it, PIT was one of the aforementioned teams that should.

The only bad contract the Hawks have is Seabs other then that the contracts are fine.
