I like that, yard sale like these should be made more often.

Only thing is ; Bergevin and Molson don't have the balls to pull this off...

Only time will tell if they do actually give up on this season (which is the logical thing to do).

That would put AVs in serious contending for Stanley Cup .

Byram hasn't one anything at the NHL level and isn't the next Bobby Orr. Maybe Colorado think the next 2 years is their time.

Carey price has been pretty bad this season and he has another 6 years at an insane 10.5 mill AAV. Weber has played well this season but he’s 34 years old and has another 6 years at 7.5 AAV. It’s not worth it for the avs. They are set up to be contenders for at least the next 4-5 years. mackinnon is playing on contract well below market value, Rantanen is locked up long term, makar , girard. It will be a luxury to have byram on his ELC for the next 3 seasons.

With your logic, the Canadiens should trade Romanov and Caufield for Jamie benn since they haven’t done anything at the NHL level

Byram isnt being down played
you're ignoring the fact not only does COL get put in a SC position being helmed by another Franchise leader from the habs in Price but they can win multiple cups .

Ask any team if they'd give up 1 D who would be behind Timmons , Makar , and Girard in the depth pool for years to come
for a Shea Weber playing his best season to date and a Carey Price who most pro's who've faced him know he's legit .
9/10 any fan who actually wants a cup would say yes .
those who just cheer for Fantasy League names would value the player over potential Cups(plural)

you may write off price based on cap but the minute cap issue is fixed you pretend its him that's the problem .
NHL pro's vote him the best goalie more often then not for a reason , you saying their opinions matter less then yours with this assertion is just flat out illogical

The avalanche do not need price - players have said that based on his play 3-5 years ago. He is on the decline right now. Some of those players said the same thing about Jonathan quick, who IMO is #1 playoff goalie of this past decade. He's the same age as price. and he has been brutal for the past two seasons. I still wouldn't trade for him although he has a cap hit of 5 mill AAV for a few more years. If the avs want a goalie without an albatross contract, they can trade for Corey Crawford or Robin Lehner , who are both UFA at the end of this season.

Like I said , weber has been great this season but its highly unlikely he will keep up this level of play next season (just look at Brent burns) AND he's extremely injury prone. This would be a short sighted move to trade for him. While weber has been unbelievable from an offensive standpoint, his defensive metrics aren't that great. The avs do not need any more offense from their backend with Girard and makar, weber isn't needed.

That being said, both price and weber contracts do play a huge factor in what the canadiens can get in return for them. They are both among the worst contracts in the NHL and there is a 0% chance that the avs would even consider giving up a top 3 D prospect in the NHL for them. The Dallas Stars wouldn't give up heiskanen for Erik Karlsson (with an extension) before he played a game in the NHL. Teams rarely give up blue chip D prospects unless they are getting an young elite player in return.

You'll notice how the Players who's opinions i consider as close to fact as can be all Still Respect Price .
I just think Everyone with any Hockey IQ knows Price re-signing in MTL tied him to a sinking ship with a price tag that's hard to move .
No one thinks Price became crap over night as they understand our owner since becoming more hands on 2015-now has driven our team hard into the ground frustrating Price to no end . MB is only doing what he's told but our owner is the only owner arrogant enough to appoint himself management despite having no professional experience at all

If you think Quick who had a stellar D Core the likes of which MTL hasnt had since in 1981 is better you're Ignoring the basic laws of Motions in Cause and Effect .
Quick became a joke awfully fast when the NHL dismantled that Dcore on him with the Voynov Suspension .

Fleury hands down has been the best Playoff goalie bar non based on Context .
Letang is the only D who stayed infront of him most of his career with a revolving door of players go though none on LAK Level .
Yet Fleury's playoff numbers are nuts and didnt even take a hit after being traded away from a star studded team like PIT .

The Fleury's , Prices , Vaselevsky's, Hart's are Few and Far Between .
These are goalies who start extremely young and will play until they're 40 .

Everyone else including Quick either took longer to reach the NHL like a Binnington or Will be out of the NHL before they're 33-35 because they decline heavily .

Quick 60-68-12 with a .900 save % and 2.93GAA over the past 3 seasons
Price 67-65-17 with a .907 save % and 2.87GAA over the past 3 seasons

Geoff Molson in 2015 left the Brewery to focus full time on the habs and since them we've rebuilt our D Core 3 times while never solidifying our LD after moving out Murray , Weaver and Gorges. We just ended the first 8 year rebuild and now Molson 3 days ago declared a new 8 year plan . . . .

Soon someone will burn down a brewery with the words ''Sell '' on it and his Brother the new President of Molson wil be forced to pull out even if Geoff wont .
Price like Brodeur is more then capable of having his best Season in his mid 30's and also capable of going on cup runs . We just need a GM with guts like NJD GM had .

Burns isnt Weber he plays different style all togehter .
Weber as Babcock said plays the Chara /Lidstrom style of hockey with a great Cannon of a shot that only gets better with age .
Chara was 33 when he won the Cup with BOS and BOS ironically was taken the same **** in the same way as Weber and Price have with Thomas and Chara being called to old to build on .

Chara is still there right ?
As long as Weber can control that cannon and skate he'll be in the NHL .
Chara set his NHL record for hardest slap shot at 36 years old i believe it was showing us again that somethings can actually get better with age.

Personally i wouldnt sell either Price or Weber as its foolish .
i'm just arguing value because im tired of hearing people talk as if Price isnt the only reason MTL hasnt been bottom of the league with ARZ the past 10 years . (ARZ in that time got two top 5 picks despite being bottom of the league most of the time .)
