Maybe for the first 2 years but once Dahlin is 22-25 he will be a top 10 D in the league and would be infinitely morr valuable than the pieces coming back

Sure, probably but by then you'll be paying Dahlin $8M or more and no one will be giving up anything to get him cause I'll be too costly and by then there's a good chance the Sabres are still looking for a 2C, top 6 winger and middle 6 winger and Eichel has requested a trade.

The Sabres look way way better after this proposed trade.

This is all hypothetical.

They look far better with those three Sharks added up front then having three holes at forward and a stacked D.

I couldn't agree more. I dont think I would make this trade if it was real life. But it's way closer than just a straight up no because Dahlin is in it. Sure, in 5 years it might not be great, but this trade makes you a contender immediately. As far as losing Dahlin, at least you wouldnt be stuck having to pay one D-man $8 mil probably more .

That's my thoughts as well, I think there's a lot of merit to a trade like this if it was out there for the Sabres, one high end dman will never do what a 2C, top 6 winger and middle 6 winger will.

No in 2 years we will have our 2nd C in either Mittelstadt or Cozens. The top 6 winger will be TT or a free agent signing. Middle 6 winger is any of our good forward prospects. We have expendale D like McCabe, Miller, and Bogo who can be traded for useful forwards. Eichel isnt going to request a trade, he isnt that sort of player.

Thats putting lots of faith in those prospects panning out, it's possible but it's also possible they don't amount to much

I dont hate this take either. I think both sides can be right. And like I said, I'm more so just trolling because this is a fantasy website, but its sad that this organization is at such a low that Botts is almost forced to make a big blockbuster to shakeup the core is becoming a necessity again. For what its worth, I wouldnt trade Dahlin but the concept that 3 producing offensive players are more worth Dahlin's value he is bringing to the team RIGHT NOW is not a ludicrous concept.
