Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 28, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade Rationale:

The DeSmith trade: TOR really needs a goalie and DeSmith is a great addition for his price and term. Also, he can provide a lot for the Leafs as well. Petan is a skilled forward and could help the Penguins when injuries occur.

The Subban/Zacha Trade: This trade is the most interesting. If the Penguins can get Subban for 3 years at $4,500,000 and he can perform the way he can then they get something very special to help Letang. Zacha is a very interesting prospect. His stock is low and he has a very cheap contract for his upside for 3 years. Paired with Malkin will get the most out of him or even paired with Crosby. Simon in a top-6 role for NJ can provide a lot for them. He's talented and extremely underrated. He is paired with Crosby so he does have enough talent for Crosby to consistently want him as his wing. The 2nd solidifies the trade and gives NJ assets for their future since they're a rebuilding team. This gives them a chance to get rid of the struggling Subban and alleviate his contract to an extent.

Bjugstad Trade: Boston wants to win the cup now. They want size and talent. Bjugstad can provide that. Pair him with Coyle and that'll be a shutdown power forward line. their 2nd round pick will be one of the last picks in that round. this is Essentially an early 3rd round pick if you look at it like that.

Schultz Trade: WPG is badly in need of defenseman since Byfluglien left. This is a perfect trade for WPG. If Schultz does well then they'll resign him without any contingencies, which is rare. Belieau is an extra d man for PIT.

The Subban trade isn’t the most interesting. It stopped being interesting the last 5 times you’ve posted it lol

I needed to provide a rationale. You're very simple-minded to think of his play just from how he's doing in NJ. Nobody is doing well on that team. 2 years ago if you saw this trade you'd be going crazy. Very simple-minded by you to have no knowledge of players. Athletes have slumps, with the help of Gonchar Subban will find his game again.

Zacha's stock isn't so low that NJ is just gonna give him away cause that's exactly what you're proposing here.

Not at all. I would like to see what else you'd propose. Maybe include a 3rd round pick.

How very simple minded of you to have no knowledge of other players. He is on the wrong side of his career. And even if it’s not cause of that/health, why would the pens pay for a player that’s having a terrible year? Why wouldn’t we take a contract like Bjugstad and do a dump for a dump?
And I’d like you to provide proof of that crystal ball you have that makes you so knowing that Subban would be fixed by Gonchar. And it’s still spam when you post the same trade over and over again like it’s going to be made any better

Subban had no offseason surgery or any injury since being traded from Nashville. The same player as last season. He is 30 years old, i promise you he's not on the wrong side of his career. Having him play with all the superstars on the Penguins will definitely provide him to play to his strengths and see what he can do. 4.5 Million for 3 years for that caliber player is something dangerous sand special. Look at Subban having the same skillset he had last season but then apply it the Pens system. All I ask.

I think it's funny you think you could send Simon and a 2nd for subban and a prospect. Not to mention them eating half his salary for the duration of his contract........lol

You don’t pay to take risks. If you take a struggling player with cap, you give a struggling player with cap back. I’m asking you to look at what you are trading. Sully and Crosby love Simon. No way they trade him. Nashville got 2 2nds and 2 ahl players for him. And that was like 4-5 years ago. The guy is a cancer. Saying “you’d have loved this trade a few years ago” is the most insane logic I’ve ever heard. I’d have also loved paying a 1st for Schneider like 5-6 years ago too. Doesn’t mean I’d want to now

Subban will not help the Penguins. He'd be a waste to trade assets for. The Penguins need youth and speed. Subban is getting old and has a high cap for his inconsistency.

you see what i did there funny how that works.

Gusev is, Hischer is, Blackwood is, Greene is, Palmieri is, and Subban hasn't been good for years, there's a reason when nobody wanted him at that 9 mil cap hit

NJ fans desperate to dump pernell on anyone who will take him.
Here is a clue, it's not the penguins. They are set at top 4 for a long time.

On the devils trade, forgetting anyone involved, why would any team trade away another player where they would have to eat $4.5 million in cap space for 3 years and only get a marginal winger and a 2nd round pick in return? That, in and of itself, makes no sense. I'd be shocked if any GM did that and even more shocked if they kept their job for a while.

We essentially already have a version of Subban on our team in Jack Johnson. He's not what he was and being paid to much for it. but, if you got rid of JJ, I'd be willing to take the chance with PK in this deal. You can't have JJ and PK on the same team with the problems they're having. The other thing to realize, is this does leave our forward depth short for the rest of the year. Jake won't be back until May at the earliest and you're trading away Sid's other favorite winger.

If you've watched this season you can see JJ has actually helped the Pens out. PK would help a ton and boost their offense.
