I think you might be right he has to go as he has made a real mess. He actually reminds me alot of Bergevin in terms of incompetence as a GM.

Too soon to say that
If Cozens & Mitts play well next year,
the Sabres are a good looking team

I think he's done a good job so far.
You are worried to much about the wrong things.
The first step of a GM in a rebuilding team is to clear the slate.
Look at that Roster, it's practically a blank slate after this year. So the real work can now start on filling out the roster.
That's really how you want it.

I really think he has done ok. Besides botching the ROR trade but I believe he had outside pressure to make a deal before we had to pay his bonus so I'll slightly turn a blind eye to that botch. The problem with him is he is Anti Tim Murray. GMTM offloaded many picks and prospects for high end players that never panned out in buffalo. So who knows what kind of job Botts could have done with more prospects in the cupboard. I think he has done everything he has set out to accomplish this far it's just been longer than the fans want. He has rebuilt this D core to something respectable. He has 2 good goalie prospects in the midst of working their way to the NHL. Now he needs to rebuild the offense. There is no way to fix everything in one year.
Buffalo's trajectory reminds me of Colorado from a few years ago and if we stay on course like them we will have a lot of success in the near future we are still just missing a few key pieces.
Even this year if you had Carter hutton go 4-8 instead of 0-12 we would be 1 or 2 games out of a playoff spot with 30ish games to go and that's not a bad spot to be in. We got hit hard by injuries this year and that happens. We can retool a lot in the offseason and have a top 10 pick in a loaded draft. Disappointed how the year turned out but like where we are heading

Im not sure what botterills plan is. I think that even if you throw the ror trade out, he has been bad. He wants to improve the player development in the organization, which has been nonexistent, except we still arent developing talent. Rochester has not won a playoff game under his direction, and the high value young players like thompson and mittelstadt have not shown any separation from their ahl peers. There is a gaping hole in our bottom 9, specifically at center and rw, but offensively the whole bottom 9 is a non contributor. The penalty kill has been awful, at least this season, which is where you could look for some hidden production from your bottom 9. The pp is also not good, but there is talent at the top end of the roster that should make that better at some point. I dont think the stockpiling of rhd was actually the plan, players were acquired as they became available with the idea that some could be moved to fill some huge holes up front. This has not worked, the market has not appeared for league average rhd, which has compounded the problem. Nobody else has cap space so even a 3 or 4 million dollar contract cant be moved to many teams without some cap coming back. Throw in players like sheary and vesey who were targeted to help on offense, and i feel like times up. Like i said, i dont think there was a plan, if there was it was terrible, and the results speak for themselves. I dont think the fans are mad, i think they dont care anymore. And thats where the owner has to decide enough is enough. Something has to change, botterill isnt the guy to make the changes, the rest is obvious.
