Don't know if there would be any takers for Holl, who knows.. I wouldn't sign any d long term, i'd do it mercenary style, one year term to the which ever dman fits best and a forward to play 3rd 4th line. if Tanev would for a year i'd overpay him for sure.. not more than a year though

Make trades that need to be done for the betterment of the franchise and to win cups... One of Matthews or Marner need to be traded, not because they are bad players.. they are great players, but they both lack leadership quality. Leafs would get a much bigger and better haul moving Matthews, and to move him you need b*lls

Making bad trades doesn't make you a good GM, try as Lou might. If he makes ANY of these deals he should be fired immediately.

Not necessarily, some players may want only a year at a time as did Jagr or maybe they want to play for their childhood team like Spezza.. he said he had offers for multiple years and more money but wanted to play for the leafs! he's turned out alright

sure they could, who knows maybe Lou like Matthews more than these other players and thinks he has a better chance with him than with Barzal and company. If we knew what these gm's where thinking then there would be no need for this site

What does moving Matthews solve for you guys anyway? It's not like Isles would accept this, but why is it your best player that needs to be moved?

I get that but that's players in the twilight of their careers not players who are still have a ways to go especially one's who have struggled with injuries throughout their careers. Most players want security for themselves and their families.
