NYI and WPG trade 84M cap

Created by: MTLaveragefan
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 6, 2020
Published: Mar. 6, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
84M cap because the CoVID-19 might impact the revenue of the league.

All 3 first line have : a shooter, a passer, a puck possession guy.

The fourth line stores the PK specialist.

The D-core is great with a lot of youth. (And guys exempt from the Seattle expansion draft.)

The offense will take a hit, but we are used to it in MTL - our system works great even if you don't have the best forwards mtl stay a threat on 5v5.

WPG trade : if Big buff comes back

instead of giving 8,5 to Hoffman, you should consider going after Hall

Now this one I think NYI should decline. Shedding Leo isn't enough here.

72 pts last year, going for 50 this year playing with some terrible linemate for a good part of the year. Wpg must be a great team for them to consider him a 3rd liner... but what do I know

Connor and Ehlers are better than him.

We need a Center

yeah you do and he's back early from injury and like Gallagher 3 years ago rushed it and got injured again right away .
to start the year Drouin lead all habs in Offense and Weber didnt take the lead for PP production until mid December
he had an amazing start to the year after packing on 10 lbs of muscle and learning to play a more physical game he thrived.

Putting him back beside Ehlers who he was more dominant beside then when playing with Mckinnon on PP , it just makes sense .
Drouin's got a lot of knocks against him but he's our top PP guy since coming over bar none and his speed with your guys talent will create a lot more time in the OZ.

i mean who's Drouin's Center been ?
Up until he and Domi found chemistry with Shaw he didnt even have a Center in MTL . . .
He was brought in to replace Radulov after our GM basically dared him publicly to leave
then we stick him at Center for the first time since Junior because he had no Centers
we finally put him with Domi and he had success even though Domi was a 1st year Center it was still something .

our GM should be embarassed and our Owner should be ashamed that as President of Hockey Operations he's done nothing but sell off what he inherited from a good owners staff while building very little himself .

Don't get me wrong, I like Dru but WPG isnt built to pay 8 forwards over 5M each...We don't do this trade unless we find a 2C first

It's gotta be a higher cap hit. Ladd or Boychuk. I really don't want to move Dobson to be honest.

At least with the Pulock scenario the Isles "saved" by not having to give him an extension. It made the Domi signing theoretically easier. With this scenario it's Pulock and Domi getting mid 6Ms deals. Harder for NYI to squeeze IMO

yeah he thought Domi was in the WPG deal as he listed his stats

Drouins no center outside PP
on PP he's a center when we us him on 2nd PP
but his bread and butter is LW or LD position on PP1

his style is built for wing and he's just not good enough possession wise to be a Center .

i think however Drouin-Ehlers could create a Tatar-Gallagher effect for Roslovic like it has Danault .
As they rise he rise's type deal as Drouin's no center but he's really solid for a secondary faceoff guy from wing

Meh, we can cash out more by trading them separately.

Not really...unless you want picks....Which would screw the team from competing with Price and Weber

What about a bolder move

Drouin,Domi ,Chiarot , two 2nd's and a 1st for Laine outright
we can make both 2nd's conditional that if MTL wins 1 playoff round in the year of each draft that it becomes a 1st that year instead .

WPG gets a strong 2nd line with Drouin-Domi-Ehlers
they also get a top pair LD capable of leading the team in ice time like he does here and 3 picks of value
two 20 goal scorers who thrive in different area's of offense who are both young still and not met full potential and a D who needs no introduction going for his 5th straight career high year there's few as consistent as Chiarot .

MTL gets what it needs in a true top RW to play infront of Gallagher (love gallagher but he's a 2nd pair guy on a contender )
Tatar-Suzuki-Laine's all the motivation we need despite the high price lol
we still got loads of youth who will step up and benefit from the space created at Center and LW while MTL finally has 4 full time RW's of which all are impact guys

what about a lesser deal for Connor involving Domi and Drouin .

willing to pay big on Laine because the idea of him being there to mentor Cole Caufield is to big to pass on
Connor could do the trick to i suppose but at that point we might aswell just keep Domi as he's no slouch as a Goal scorer
