Andersson has been decent, but I think he's been passed by Marino and Bear now.

Marino maybe, Bear definitely not. Andersson has solidified himself as at minimum a #3.

So did Bear, this season. He was playing 22 mins and was a bit better all-around

He doesn’t belong here over Konecny and Boeser. I agree with the other 3 tho, Meier is better than them

Andersson was 6th among CGY regulars by TOI vs Elites (3rd pairing) and 5th by 5v5 TOI/GP (again, 3rd pairing).
Marino was 3rd among PIT regulars by TOI vs Elites (2nd pairing) and 4th by 5v5 TOI/GP (again, 2nd pairing).
Bear was 1st among EDM regulars by TOI vs Elites (1st pairing) and 2nd by 5v5 TOI/GP (again, 1st pairing).

Bear scored 0.87 P/60 at 5v5, Andersson scored 0.57.
Bear had a 47.76 GF% playing 1st pairing minutes, Andersson posted a 46.99 GF% while being sheltered on the 3rd pairing.

Imo leaving Cirelli and Meier out of here is a major joke.

Strome and Beauvillier should go.

Sheltered? He spent 30% of the season as Hanifin's partner, 30% of the season as Kylington's partner and 26% of the season as Giordano's partner, his next highest TOI partner was Brodie at 3.5%. Not once did Hanifin of Giordano play below the 2nd pair. So that means he played a majority of the season on the 2nd pair or higher. Thats anything but sheltered. I am curious on what site you are using to determine their ice time oer opposition. Care to link it?

Note the CTOI% column and FO/60 column vs Elites.

http://puckiq.com/woodmoney?season=20192020&tier=Elite&positions=d&team=cgy&group_by=player_season_team&min_toi=100

Of the 6 highest total TOI defensemen on the team, Andersson ranked 5th in TOI per game, 2nd in OTF/60 and 2nd in Off. Zone Start %. These are all ways that coaches shelter young defensemen.

http://naturalstattrick.com/playerteams.php?fromseason=20192020&thruseason=20192020&stype=2&sit=5v5&score=all&stdoi=oi&rate=y&team=CGY&pos=D&loc=B&toi=500&gpfilt=none&fd=&td=&tgp=410&lines=single&draftteam=ALL

If you change the team to Edmonton in both links you'll see Bear's usage is very different. Marino's is going to fall somewhere between the two.

Can’t convince me Dunn isn’t better than Hanifin, Carlo, and Anderson. Even though he doesn’t play as much, his results are still insanely good the last two years.

Ty for the links, usefuls sits to add to my arsenal.

We can argue this all day, both players are very promising up and comers. A major factor is the teams RD depth. It wasnt until a good chunk i to the season that Andersson had proven himself better than Hamonic, on the other hand Bear was undoubtedly the 2nd best RD on Edmonton (maybe best depending on how you feel about Larsson). I can tell you right now that when Andersson was being "sheltered" it was for his linemate Kylington and not him.

That makes sense. Certainly Kylington was the most sheltered of all CGY defenders, but there's no question Andersson was #2. I haven't looked at the season splits, only the entire season, so I can't say one way or another about how his role changed throughout the season. I'll trust you on that.

The Oilers started the season with 2 rookies on RHD (Persson, Bear) with the idea that Larsson would soak up most of the hard minutes. In the 1st period of game 1, Larsson broke his foot blocking a shot. He played out the game (he's one tough SOB) but Bear started playing 1st pairing from game 2 onwards. By the time Larsson returned and got up to speed Bear had established himself as the 1RD, although the tough minutes were shared a bit more evenly with Larsson over the last 25 games or so. So Edmonton's RHD depth certainly had something to do with Bear getting thrust onto the 1st pairing, but he proved capable of handling those minutes and I don't expect him to be anywhere else come training camp.

Meier had the same number of points as Konecny this year on a worse team and had more last year, also had more than Boeser
