The post was trying to show helping out Tampa so Cirelli gets the picks and Johnson is picked while at it so he can be traded for a RD in the future?

right but from WPG's perspective it makes more sense to give up less and keep roslovic instead of Johnson, who has more value.

Just offer sheet him why would you help Tampa? If you are signing him for that much Lightning won't match. Theres not point of giving Heinola and assets for a guy you can just OS

Seems like way too much term for Vatanen. So Johnson waives his NTC for Winnipeg? Tampa would happy to just give Johnson away for cap reasons, so it's overpayment for Cirelli.

I know Cirelli is practically considered a god on here but this is way too much to give for him and Johnson is the guy most Tampa fans want gone the most, I really don't think this would be that good for the Jets.

Cirelli isn't getting moved period, Only way Cirelli leaves is through an OS that Julien BrisBois can't match. Tampa would probably give johnson away fpr a bag of pucks. But realistically Cirelli isn't going anywhere. Offer sheet is the only viable way of getting him not trading for him.

I’m in the offer sheet camp. So long as we can get DeMelo signed, our D is instantly better than last year and offer sheeting Cirelli (or Dubois, or Barzal, giggidy) would be a great move to make this team competitive again.
The picks lost would be late picks and even though our farm system isn’t what it used to be, our core is young and they have all the time in the world to develop and maybe nab a few in free agency.

I agree that TBay doesn’t want to move any of their 3 RFAs, but man are they ever in tough. If the cap goes down there are not many teams that could eat cap, regardless of the player coming with it. Johnson, Killorn etc would be great on a lot of teams, but most of TBays players have NMCs or NTCs and the teams that do have the available cap (ie Ottawa) they aren’t waiving for. It may come down to waiving a player(s) in hopes Detroit or Ottawa nab them.
I do think Colorado may have some room but not sure of the implications of that the year(s) after.

Cap won't go down, will stay flat or go up modestly by like one million at most.

Still leaves TBay in a terrible spot.

Yeah, the Lightning always seem to figure out their cap issues though, no one thought Point was signing for as low as he did.

Tampa also does not want to move Johnson, as despite the slight decrease this year he is still over .6 ppg average and had 29 goals last year. He was also 2nd in ES goal scoring on Tampa last year. He may have to be moved via a cbo or if he waives his ntc, but pretty sure Gourde goes first. Tampa is certainly not looking to give him away for scraps. His contract is decent and he's 29 turning 30, not 35 turning 36. He's far from a cap dump. He likely either stays with Tampa one more year and then is lost in the exp draft, or he waives the ntc and gets moved somewhere he wants to play if a deal can be reached. In any case, Tampa wouldn't make the trade as they want to win now. The picks mean little for a contending team in the heart of their window, Roslovic and Copp are at best a slight upgrade to some guys Tampa already have ready to go or playing in the bottom 6. Heinola is a great prospect that Tampa would likely want in the future, but how much of an impact
he'd have in the next year or two is debatable. The value isn't necessarily the issue with the trade, in fact Tampa is likely getting a pck and/or player too much, but the fit isn't there for where Tampa is right now, which is why JBB would never do it.
