Buffalo Big Bang

Created by: chchanges
Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 17, 2020
Published: Apr. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. Botterill needs to add scoring now more than he needs another top-10 draft pick; his job is on the line!
2. 2 Hawk picks in Top 10 boost odds of getting someone who can step in right away, helping an admittedly weak third line in the roster shown below. Worst case, you've got two picks in the top ten in a very strong draft for that range.
3. Hawks should still be doing more rebuilding by stocking their pipeline than tinkering around the edges.
4. A lot of room for cap management with trade, BO, or LTIR (Matta, Smith, Shaw, DeHaan, Seabrook)

What would be the ask on Debrincat? I've wanted him in Ottawa since Junior. What went wrong with him this season? I know he took a step back this year.

why this is so hard to judge value is because most of the main players play with elite talent the are imo top 15 in the league in kane and eichel. personally i think strome is just a year ahead of middlestats development but is two years older so loss of value for buffalo (and I know he the point is for buffalo to win now but casey will be on the roster come gameday next year). debrincat and reinhart is a toss up but I i would go with debrincat cuz he's younger, scores goals more and plays with toews who is good but doesn't produce as good offensively as eichel. then your giving up a top ten pick in a stacked draft that could also too become top 3 potentially makes this a really bad trade for buffalo. cagguila is irrelevant due to the caliber of hockey players involved.

His shooting percentage regressed by about 10%. While we shouldn't expect it to be as high as it was in the past, he has a very good shot so it should expect to live a little above league average. I don't believe hes gonna be a 40 goal scorer every year, but he should live in the upper 30s for the next decade

Can you explain to me your thinking behind this because im genuinely a little curious as to why its "very bad"
For simplicity sake, I'll say Strome = Mittelstadt even though ive seen people in Buffalo AGMs say they would give Mittelstadt and a lower prospect for Strome, and Debrincat + Caggiula in my opinion would probably be worth the 1st + Reinhart no? If we took out Reinhart and Caggiula would that fit better? Not that I would do the trade because I really like what debrincat brings to the table, but especially if you're getting Strome and Debrincat, those two really bring out the best of each other when theyre together so I think the value rises a little bit there

What do you think the ask would be? Ottawa could really use a sniper to play opposite Brady Tkachuk.

DeBrincat =(roughly)= Reinhart
Cat might be younger and his best season exceeds Reinharts, but he has also been on the better team with complete linemates. Reinhart's ability to play center also raises his value. BUF would add slightly, but certainly not a 1st. Caguilla is almost valueless.
The first is a top 10 pick in a very deep draft. That alone makes it awful for the sabres.

Make it a 2nd next year and it's much more on earth - though I don't know why you would want to move Cat

Idk if I'd say Caggiula is valueless. He is a guy who can play in all situations, plays with grit but also has the skill to put points on the board. That being said, I'll ask again. If it were Mittlestadt + 1st for Debrincat + Strome would you do it?

I'm not a Sabres fan. I would think that is worth it. Reinhart plus the first for that package is an extreme overpay. This is back on earth though
SlickWilly and sabres89 liked this.
