Speaking as someone who cheers for a bad team, cancelling the season is worst case scenario for everyone. Good teams don't get a chance to play for the cup, the league loses tens to hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising an TV revenue, and the bad teams get screwed hard because the draft lottery gets opened up to all 31 teams.

24 team playoffs would be great for everyone. It allows Bubble teams to get a shot at the cup, the league gets to make more money, and the number of lottery teams gets cut to just the worst 7 teams.
