We definitely don't want Brady Skjei. I also think PIT fans are going to jump on you. He's coming off his 1st good year. Perception will be that his value is ridiculous. We'll see what happens when teams start to game plan him.

Agree on those points.

Hatter is going to lose his mind if the Hawks have Dach and Lundell as the 2C and 3C smile

I mean I think Lundell is just a less skilled version of Dach at this point. Where we are at in the draft though, he is most likely best player available, but I think if we do not acquire a LHD, Sanderson would be our 2nd best option

Couldn’t agree more on these points. Skjei is not what we need, no need to try I justify it.

Jarry, correct me if I overstep, is going to be far more valuable and harder to acquire than Matt Murray (by a wide margin). I won’t pretend to know where Pittsburgh’s heads are at with these two, but I have to imagine they have to decide if they wanna go with cheap and on the up and up vs. the experience and cups of Murray.

If we end up picking number 9 and all the better players are picked in front of him, sure, take lundell. Hate seeing them at 2-3? I mean, it won’t be easy, but you live with the choices that are made, stupid or otherwise.

Agreed that lundell is just Bowman’s baby boy without the hands/skill. As exo reminded me though, his game is a lot more intuitive and direct, two things I definitely respect. If lundell can be efficient and direct without having to feel like he NEEDS to deke through everyone, I would like that.

As for defense and Sanderson, in all honesty, if the hawks were thinking defense in the draft, they would have done it last year. No reason to go after Sanderson with the “logjam” that everyone preaches already. I kinda get the feeling our defense isn’t gonna get any better unless the team actually smartens up and develops each defensive prospect instead of trades and free agency.

I dont think the argument against Byram was there is a logjam, the thinking was probably Dach was just in their eyes the BPA and a better centerpiece for the future of this core, which so far is proving to be n the right track. There is a logjam on RD, sure, but LD is a point of weakness and everyone knows that. Thats why there are so many trades for Brodin.

And if that was the rational, fine, you live with the choices. That being said, Brodin would be fine as long as it doesn’t cost an arm or leg and it doesn’t interfere with chances for beaudin or Carlsson. Essentially, this team isn’t winning any time soon, so do you make the brodin trade thinking you can? Or is he just a piece for moving forward to build the left side around so we can at least be competitive?

For me, its a tough spot, because while I think the best course of action would be to sell off guys like Saad, Maatta, Carpenter, and De Haan for as many future assets as you can to get another high draft pick next year, but you dont want to steer Kane and Toews away from their happiness. Kane, Toews, Keith, Seabrook, are all future ambassadors, coaches, GMs for us if they stay in chicago, stay happy, and really build their place here. So I think selling off the guys for assets but at the same time attempting to sign a young FA to a solid contract to stay a little competitive and build toward a future contender

Not to mention Vlasic who should be ready in a couple seasons. I'm more excited to see where Vlasic is then say Carlsson. I think Vlasic can anchor that 3rd line role for a long time, but time will tell.

Exactly. Vlasic still has probably two years of college left to develop and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being all four years. But the kid can skate, which is impressive for a 6’6’’ dman.
