In reality, I don't know who they could get for Johnsson. Far more than any non leaf fan on here thinks. I do think the whole "we need to trade for a right handed defenceman" is massively overblown. You don't need to have 3 righties and 3 lefties, you need 7 or 8 NHL quality defenceman.
I do agree that Johnsson is the most likely player to get moved but I don't at all think that has to be for a defenceman. I also wouldn't add picks to over pay for a guy like Mayfield, who I think is not worth half as much as people think. He's a #6 defenceman who is capable of playing higher but isn't going to come to TO and be the reason they win.
If you look at who the Leafs have under contract next season, they are pretty good.
Rielly, Muzzin, Holl and Lehtonen should make for a solid top 4, Dermott is projecting towards a solid 2nd pair guy who could become even better. Sandin is going to he really good and then you also have Rosen, Liljegren and Marincin who are either ok in limited rolls or young and up and coming.
If a trade comes forward that makes sense, anything can happen but I do not at all feel that a trade needs to happen. TO has the core to win, finding the health, experience is what's needed to bring them over the top.
