You'd have to add a bit I think to that Ellis trade even though you're taking Turris, smart idea though

No thanks from Preds. Ellis is too good to give up.

Yeah Ellis is good but the sharks would be taking on Turris, which would make the the overall value go down.

If Nashville wanted to pay an aging defenseman $8M until he's 40, they would have just kept Weber.

Burns is better than Ellis, and Weber; he'll produce double the points Ellis does, and he won't miss half the season due to injury like Weber. He'll also still be playing at 40+ due to his elite fitness.

Where I like Ellis and why I'm entertaining this trade is what Ellis brings defensively. NSH, on the other hand, has room to add an Off-D, as long as they put up good numbers, unlike Subban.

Burns isn't better than Ellis right now, and I doubt he ever will be again. This proposal only makes sense for Nashville if Turris continues to play like he did under Laviolette. But after putting 18-19's injuries behind him and getting out of Lavi's doghouse, he's a strong candidate to regain his form. He was already playing much better after Hynes took over and started giving him icetime again. I've got more faith in Turris turning his game around, than I do in Burns not regressing more than he already has. If he doesn't, NJ might not be generous enough to bail the Preds again.

Ok sure... We can revisit this next season and see how you feel then. Besides Burns currently having more points than Ellis in an allegedly regressed year, he also never really sustains long-term injuries. Multiple Norris trophy nominations, including last year where he accrued 99pts between the reg and post-season, and still considered one of the top 3 best defensemen in the league... Fact is, we're probably keeping Burns, and I'm perfectly fine with that.

Do yourself a favor and take a look at his record over the years. He's had a couple down years, but most of the time he coasts above 0.80ppg. He's a beast. Armchair fans of borderline teams can spew all the venom they want, and foment some false hype about how he's finished, but the pros in the league know him and know his worth.

This is such a wild attempt at an insult, from a fan of a struggling lottery team. Wow.

But jokes aside, by what metric do you think Burns is still a top 3 dman? He's not in the top ten in scoring (his 7 more points in 21 more games isn't close to double Ellis' points, like you claim), and that's all he's good for. He can't defend. That's an important part of a defenseman's job.
