VAN cannot trade Sutter Baertschi Benn just to sign Markstrom Tanev and Toffoli

Description
Even with a CBO for Eriksson, the Canucks will need to keep as much cap space available as possible for the extensions of Petey and Hughes in 2021. That means trading guys like Sutter, Baertschi and Benn in order to lock up a bunch of other guys on multi-year deals won't work.

In this ACGM I've chosen to sign Markstrom as the one multi-year extension, as he was probably the team MVP for two years in a row.

Tanev has been interviewed as saying he'd like to stay in VAN, but would he take a one year deal with a small raise to do it? If not I'd move on, as his possession numbers aren't as good as they used to be and he's on the wrong side of 30 with too many injuries for a multi-year deal. In other ACGM's I've often replaced him with DeMelo with a 4m AAV.

This is essentially the same roster as 2019/20 before the deadline trade for Toffoli, but has a ton of cap flexibility heading into 2021 with about 27 mill off the books. With no CBO, Eriksson stays and the team patches together some very low cost signings for the blueline and hopes Juolevi and Rafferty can make the jump during the year.

It looks to me from the CapFriendly buyout calculator that it actually saves money for you to buy Sven Baertschi out ($1,766,666) rather than bury him in the AHL ($2,291,666), but I'm old enough to be confused by this stuff.

buyout causes 800K cap hit in following year.
I would rather trade Myers.

That's peanuts in the general scheme of things. Worst comes to worst, you run with a 22-man roster for a couple of months and then bring up an ELC when the daily line rises enough.

I doubt Ferland plays again he'll probably go on LTIR. Similar situation to Shaw

I think we’ll see Ferland give it one last go. His health shows a big turnaround all good fir the Canucks. If not he’ll retire on LTIR. He cannot expect to play at his best with anymore relapses that will end his career.
