Description

This seems like a good offseason for the Cats. I believe Denisenko needs a year maybe. I believe FLA can get solid returns for some prospects who haven't panned out yet like Montembeault or Borgstrom . Even though I may be hurrying them out the door, I see FLA taking a center in the first round, and Borgstrom needs to be traded for something of value. I think Montour could be decent on FLA, he had a solid defensive season for Buffalo last year. Mackenzie Weegar is very underrated. I think Aleksi Saarela and Owen Tippett will bot be big breakout candidates next year, and are both future 20 goal scorers. However this team is built largely around Sasha Barkov and if he doesn't play well or gets hurt, the team fails. However, I don't see this as any different from Edmonton (Draitsaitl/McDavid) or any other team, but I believe we have the depth to help. The key is that Erik Haula contributes. I don't think Acciari scores 20 goals again, but I believe he is a solid third checking line center.

Cheaper, too, which is a consideration in Florida. (And I'm not too optimistic about some of the RFA signing figures in this construction, also.)

Has to be the weakest ufa center class I've ever seen. Haula might get better offers than 1 year

Disagree. As a FLA fan (yes we exist), Hoffman has been far more consistent than Dadonov. Dadonov tends to get points in bunches, and usually doesn't do well when not with Huberdeau and Barkov. Hoffman has been a lot better. Hoffman is a better goal scorer. I feel like Florida is going to want to put Tippett with Huberdeau and Barkov, as a long term option, if those two stay. Of course this is the best case scenario. Hoffman almost scored 30 goals this year, and would've if not for COVID-19.

Jus for the record: LaBanc and Montour will cost you a 2020 second and a 2021 second between them; you're going to have to pay both more because a two-year contract makes LaBanc a free agent upon expiry and Montour's qualifying offer is $3,525,000.
