Description
(Hoping we can sneak up and take 2nd overall in the lottery lol) Trying to add center and right wing depth, I also think in net Ullmark and Ukka Pekka L cam split 50 / 50. Top 6 I think looks good and third line can hold itself. 4th line can grind its way to victory. With the right coaching I think the defense can mature and get better. I don't see a need to switch this up to much. Also if we can't get byfield I think possibly something is there for dylan strome for risto and maybe something else to fill that 3rd or 4th line center. Chicago needs defense

Gotta think Tampa is gonna figure out their cap issues and keep Cirelli but they are up against it so who knows, think someone would offer better then that for him if TB was to trade him though.

Not sure it's really worth buying out Okposo especially with three years left, that's a long time with dead cap space.

Really think Hutton is a buyout candidate or you'll have to pay some team to take him, don't think it'd take much though, maybe something like
Hutton and a 4th for a 7th.

HEY here in buffalo overpaying is our middle name (cough skinner). And yes if we overpay I do believe he would open our letter when it has a certain amount of $$$ attached to it.

Why would COL do that trade? Pilut has already made the move to the KHL basically signaling his NHL career is over, and Mittlestadt couldn’t make the Sabres team this year. Where Donskoi has been a valuable and versatile forward for the Avs. Doesn’t make sense.

Well to be fair actually part of the deal with Pilut is if he is traded to another NHL team he stays in the NHL, if that doesn't happen he goes to KHL, so actually he would play for colorado. Also you are correct mittelsadt did not play a lot in the NHL, but his potential is a middel 6 center, something the avs need. He could be a consistent 4th-3rd line center this upcoming year

Brisebois isn't dealing Cirelli for only picks, If Cirelli only signs for 3 x $5.5m he stays in Tampa pure and simple. 6,8% chance of Byfield so not happening greater chance of falling to #8 then climbing to #2.

According to who do the Avs need a middle 6 center? They have at C, MacKinnon, Kadri, Compher, PEB, Jost, and Bowers. In addition to that they have Newhook. They have so much depth at C they have centers like Jost playing on the wing and that there is a good chance they just let Kamenev walk. Colorado literally has zero need for anybody that plays in the bottom 6 C or wing.
Where as Donskoi can play on the 2nd line, kill penalties, and be trusted to even play with MacKinnon in a pinch. This is a trade that makes zero sense for team gunning for a Cup.

Byfield shouldn't play in the NHL yet in my opinion. Cozens should be 2nd line RW so no need for Donskoi. UPL isn't ready, 2 more years

There's no room for Pilut on the Avs blueline so he'd very likely be off to the KHL.

Avs are also generally past the time of needing reclamation projects like Mittelstadt, especially if it entails trading a good roster player for him. The only way Avs do a reclamation now is if someone with great underlying stats is available for really cheap like Nichuskin was last offseason.

Lastly, as @Xqb15 said Avs are loaded at C. The only type of C that would be of any interest at this stage would be an elite 3C (eg. Pageau/Danault type), but that's more of a luxury than a need as Compher is fine. And we also don't want to block the 3C position completely given that Newhook (and to a lesser extent Bowers) will likely join in 2021.
